The role

For the Defense Engineering & Technology organization in The Netherlands, we are looking for a Data & Configuration Management Engineer. The Data & Configuration Management Engineer plays a pivotal role in the development, integration, and lifecycle management of complex aerospace defense systems. You will be part of a dedicated, multidisciplinary project team within GKN and responsible for ensuring that all product configurations, documentation, and changes are controlled, traceable, and compliant with industry standards. We are looking for a capable and flexible Data & Configuration Management Engineer for the Product Engineering Department within Defense Engineering & Technology to help develop the future of defence technology and products.

In this role, you will

  • Develop and maintain configuration management plans, processes, and procedures in accordance with aerospace standards.
  • Manage product baselines (functional, allocated, and product) across the system lifecycle.
  • Control and track engineering changes through formal change control boards (CCB’s).
  • Interface with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program management to ensure configuration integrity.
  • Support the release and revision control of engineering drawings, specifications, and software.
  • Ensure compliance with export control regulations (e.g., ITAR, EAR) in documentation and data handling.
  • Co-ordinate with other engineering disciplines and subject matter experts, as well as work with external and international partners.

In this role, you need

You are pro-active, self-starting, relevant experience in Data & Configuration Management in preferably Aerospace and have a good level of technical problem solving and you are a team player. You have worked before in a multidisciplinary environment and are familiar with Engineering and Technology Development. You are willing to learn and are able to arrange things. You will bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in configuration management within the aerospace or defense industry. Familiarity with aerospace product development lifecycle and systems engineering principles.
  • Extensive knowledge of configuration management principles, processes and standards (e.g., CMII, AS9100).
  • Experience with PLM/CM tools such as PTC Windchill, Siemens Teamcenter, or Dassault ENOVIA to manage product data and documentation.
  • Strong technical appreciation of engineering business networks and associated stakeholder relationships across the product lifecycle.
  • An ability to plan, lead and deliver technical Configuration Management activities.
  • Knowledge of defense products and systems related technologies such as sensors, guidance, navigation, propulsion, datalinks, etc. is preferred.
  • Understanding of Defence, Military or other aerospace standards and design assurance processes.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, organizational, documentation and communication skills.
  • Collaborative, open approach to development and have the ability to work well in a team and maintain momentum during development.
