Job Summary
For the Defense Engineering & Technology organization in The Netherlands, we are looking for a Design Engineer. The Design Engineer plays a pivotal role in the Development, Engineering, Prototyping and Testing of structural solutions for several flying and non-flying platforms. You will be part of a dedicated, multidisciplinary project team within Fokker.
We are looking for a capable and flexible Design Engineer for the Product Engineering Department to help develop lightweight composite structures with various secondary functions. Experience with CAD software is a prerequisite. Knowledge of fiber reinforced composite materials is a plus.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and check technical solutions and compliance documentation to ensure they are compliant with all relevant customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements, within agreed program, schedule, and manufacturing constraints.
- Identify technical problems and apply/integrate solutions.
- Execute and implement methods plans, toolsets and approaches that are appropriate and compliant to achieve the design and program objectives.
- Support the creation of technical solutions against customer requirements as input to bids and proposals within assigned programs/projects.
- Identify and assess technical risk for own work and propose mitigations within assigned programs/projects.
- Develop designs compliant to cost and manufacturing requirements using appropriate techniques for design such as manufacture and assembly (DFMA) and design to cost.
- Support creation of design definitions, including dimensions, materials, parts, process notes, assemblies, and tolerances which are aligned to all design requirements and objectives.

- Processes and Tooling
- Generate assigned project deliverables, documents, and reports according to the project signature authorizations.
- Support technical and customer reviews, including formal gate reviews, including the creation and preparation of technical data and presentations of product design.
- Perform all activities at a level of independence with the support of lead and expert engineers.
- Assist the development and maintenance of work instructions, procedures, tooling, technical manuals, and guidelines.
- Support operations and support manufacturing engineering team in translation of the product design and manufacturing requirements of a product in a manufacturing design of a product during prototype build and serial manufacturing, where applicable.
- Understand the qualification process of products, and prepare compliance documentation to internal, customer, and regulatory requirements, where applicable.
Job Qualifications
You are pro-active, self-starting, relevant experience in design and structural Engineering in preferably Aerospace and have a good level of technical problem solving skills, and you are a team player. You have no problems with working in a multidisciplinary environment and you are familiar with Technology Development. You are willing to learn and are able to arrange things. You will bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
- Relevant technical qualifications (Bachelor, Master or equivalent) or a relevant level of experience to perform engineering tasks
- Experience and affinity with CAD software (preferably Catia) in 3D as well as 2D, with relevant GD&T knowledge
- Able to work towards holding a check / approval status.
- Able to act under own initiative in relation to the assigned tasks within defined functional procedures / governance.
- Ability to describe technical information of a technical task to a wide audience within the engineering business.
- The ability to have technical discussions with customers and suppliers as required.
- Able to analyze and interpret customer requirements.

• A gross monthly salary in accordance with the Metalektro Collective Labour Agreement, within the mid-level L2 scale: €5,659 – €6,792 (depending on knowledge and experience)
