Senior Engineer- Airworthiness and Quality

The EWIS Engineering department within GKN Fokker Elmo develops EWIS products (wire harnesses) for aerospace applications of different customers. The EWIS Engineering processes are part of the Business Management System (BMS) processes of GKN Fokker Elmo, certified to AS9100D. The EWIS Engineering department is part of the Civil Airframe Engineering department. The EWIS Engineering department is an organisation certified to the different customer requirements. 
The Engineering department of GKN Fokker ELMO is seeking to expand her workforce with a: Engineer- Airworthiness & Quality, Hoogerheide/ Papendrecht – The Netherlands.

Job responsibilities

  • Supporting the EWIS Engineering process owner with the governance of the compliance of the EWIS Engineering department to the Design Engineering processes, procedures and instructions within the GKN FE BMS;
  • Independent monitoring by means of audits of the EWIS Design processes, procedures and instructions and support audits by customers, certifying authorities and internal GKN audits; where needed perform audits of the GKN Fokker Elmo BMS and audits for the GKN Civil Airframe Design Engineering organization;
  • Identify, support and facilitate implementation of actions to improve the EWIS Engineering- processes, procedures and instructions within the GKN FE BMS;
  • Perform Design Assurance Coordinator tasks, communicate with the customer and coordinate and monitor activities within the GKN Fokker Elmo organization according to customer contracts;
  • Participate in the development of the EWIS Engineering part of the QMS, with interfaces to the GKN Fokker Elmo process owner of the BMS and the Civil Airframe Engineering Design Engineering department;

The function is initially performed in Hoogerheide and transferred in 2023 to Papendrecht.


 

Job qualifications

The Engineer- Airworthiness & Quality has hierarchical and operational links to the Director of EWIS Engineering and has functional links to the Head of Quality of GKN Fokker Elmo and the Head of Design Management Systems of Civil Airframe Engineering- Design department. 

  • In the possession of a (technical) Bachelor degree or can demonstrate an equivalent experience level;
  • Knowledge of quality systems- and methods; 
  • At least 3 years of experience in an Engineering department of a complex organization, preferably in the aerospace industry, and affinity with processes and Quality Assurance. Assurance
  • This function is open for less experienced engineers, who have the ambition to grow in the area of EWIS Airworthiness and Quality.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills;
  • Excellent social and communication skills;
  • Good communication skills in English and Dutch
