Job Summary

The principle interface between procurement and the Business lines. Accountable for the programmes strategic procurement activities for a business line. Accountable for defining the requirements for the current and future supply base. Compiles a mid-range forecast for programme teams on strategic procurement issues, opportunities and risks that affect programme performance. Leads the implementation of strategic procurement activities (for the business line) by identifying and to fulfilling the needs of current and future programmes for example program transfer projects (P2P and M2P), programme cost down challenges. Proactively monitors supplier performance (for the business line) and provides timely and relevant feedback to programme teams and procurement for corrective action and risk management. Member of the VP Customer leadership team representing the procurement function, providing significant input to any make, move, buy and sourcing decisions. You lead the consolidation of the bids and proposals for new and repeat business. You own and lead the procurement life cycle management process and gate governance. Setting of program priority to cover functional resource to deliver the program requirements including NPI, IPTs, source and method change, CI, cost reduction, process engineering, capex and tooling.

Job Responsibilities

  • The principle interface between procurement and the Business lines.
  • As part of the VP Customer mgmt. team defines the requirements for the current and future supply base.
  • Provides input to the BL’s of long term developments in the relevant commodity market in support of the BL customers strategies. Understanding of potential capacity constraints, technology developments, cost developments and globalisation.
  • Compiles a mid-range forecast for programme teams on strategic procurement opportunities and challenges that could affect program performance e.g. material costs, shortages, supplier risks.
  • Leads the implementation of strategic procurement activities (for the business line) to fulfilling the needs of current and future programmes for example parts transfer projects, design change, method change and cost down challenges.
  • Proactively monitors supplier performance (for the business line) and provides timely and relevant feedback to programme teams and procurement for corrective action and risk management.
  • Responsible for achieving should cost targets, by providing accurate BoM and processing cost input to programmes and estimating teams during the bid process.
  • Collaborates with the GKN Aerospace Global Commodity teams to leverage purchasing power and maximise ROI.
  • Member of the VP Customer leadership team representing the procurement function, providing input to any make, move, buy and sourcing decisions.
  • Leads a programme procurement team and manages performance and development in line with GKN Aerospace standards.
  • Lead the consolidation of the bids and proposals for new and repeat business.
  • Executes, owns and leads for programme the procurement life cycle management process and gate governance.
  • Deploys processes for Supplier Quality Management purposes, escalating underperformance and implementing supplier development processes and plans where necessary.
  • Accountable for ensuring Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) systems are in line with the regulatory requirements and standards of GKN and for the audit plan for SQA systems.
  • Leads a team of specialists and professionals and manages performance and development in line with GKN Aerospace standards.

Job Qualifications

  • BSc degree, or equivalent in a Business, Engineering, or Science discipline
  • Minimum of 15 years relevant business experience
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Procurement, Supply Chain Management or Production Management
  • Previous and significant experience with an international supply base
  • A demonstrated ability to build relations with a supplier network and having insight in suppliers processes
  • A demonstrated ability to develop a performance excellence organization
  • A track record of Leadership to work with cross functional teams
