Associate Manufacturing Engineer - Mono Product

The role

In this role, you support operational improvement and develop programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing superior engineering and problem solving skills. Furthermore, you utilize data analysis and smart thinking to improve existing processes. You are accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly.

Job responsibilities

  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems;
  • Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards;
  • Responsible for technical support of manufacturing development and integration for production. Resolve issues pertaining to vendor schedule and/or quality;
  • Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances;
  • Responsible for the implementation of tooling and or production planning, from original concept through to production. Design these processes with a high degree of process capability; utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to demonstrate as such;
  • Accountable for product development, first article development, configuration changes, build process definition and implementation;
  • Delivers measurable, metrics driven results in line with Operational & Program goals;
  • Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers;
  • Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.

In order to make your start as successful as possible, you will receive an extensive training program. The duration and content depends on your role and the experience you bring with you, and will take place at our location in Helmond. After this training period, in which you get to know the processes within Fokker Landing Gear in detail, you will start working with your colleagues in Papendrecht!

Your profile

  • Technical expertise in Manufacturing Engineering, with a professional qualification / background (HBO/university degree) in engineering (Aerospace, Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical)
  • Experience of managing New Product / Process introduction (industrialisation) & existing production process improvements
  • Ability to influence people, build trust and establish effective working relationships within a global organisation
  • Working knowledge of LEAN processes and practices
  • 2-5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering
  • Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000
  • Good knowledge in English language, both written and spoken
  • Good quality mind-set and strong documentation/reporting skills
  • Good communicative skills
  • Working knowledge of machining processes (milling, mill-turn, boring, honing) is a plus
  • Working knowledge of surface treatment processes (heat treatment, plating, shot-peen, NDI) is a plus

This includes the design and development, production and assembly of complete landing gears, as well as the repair and overhaul of systems in use.
