Job Summary

The Sr. Material and Process Engineer must be able to support a wide range of technical projects and manufacturing related technical issues with minimal guidance in the following areas of expertise: transparencies, engineered plastics, urethane chemistry, vacuum-deposited coatings, and formulated flow coatings. The Sr. Material and Process Engineer will be providing the technical support to develop, integrate, implement, and verify technical solutions and compliance documentation compliant with all relevant customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements, within agreed program, schedule, and manufacturing constraints. 

Job Responsibilities

  • The Sr. Material and Process Engineer Drive company culture through the support of continuous improvement activities (A3, 5-Whys, Fishbone etc.)
  • Establish and maintain manufacturing specifications, which outline process best practices.
  • Provide leadership for cross-functional teams to help diagnose production issues, optimize equipment and process robustness to meet manufacturing, company and customer needs.
  • Sr. Material and Process Engineer ensures process and procedures follow aerospace compliance and regulations and/or industry standards and best practices.
  • Review and sign, as appropriate the assigned project deliverables, documents, and reports as required within limits of signature authorizations.
  • Sr. Material and Process Engineer mentor and development of engineers and technicians within the Materials and Process group.
  • Support, create and participate in technical and customer reviews, including the creation and preparation of technical data and presentations of a work package.
  • Sr. Material and Process Engineer performs all activities at a level of minimal supervision and guide other engineers within expected authority.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrialization Engineering, or related fields of discipline. Will consider 8 years of professional experience in Materials and Process for manufacturing, in lieu of degree. 
  • 5 years experience in manufacturing within an aerospace environment, working with multi-disciplinary engineering project teams such as Materials and Process and Industrialization, which requires a high level of technical problem solving skills.
  • Must be a US Persons able to comply with ITAR regulations and site SSA requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to work and communicate within a cross-functional team (Operations/Production, Sales/Customer Relationship Management, Supplier Management) and support discussions on Development, Finance, Strategy/Mergers/etc.
  • Well versed in aerospace manufacturing processes and procedures. Knowledge of lab testing, generating test plans and reports.  Knowledge of Industry standards ASTM, MIL spec etc.
  • Experience in chemistries of advanced urethane coatings and applications.
  • Ability to facilitate the integration of automation within current and future processes.
  • Knowledge of vacuum sputter coatings and processes.
  • Able to act under own initiative to deliver results of assigned projects and assignments.
  • Ability to document and clearly present data, reports, and presentations to internal and external customers
  • Able to provide technical guidance, failure analysis and troubleshooting for purchased and engineered products.
  • Demonstrates strong mentoring & technical knowledge transfer as part of day-to-day activities.
  • Able to act within Material and Process function as a technical leader.
