Job Summary
The Sr. Configuration Control Manufacturing Engineer will work as a focal point with cross functional stakeholders to ensure that the configuration of all aerospace products is fully defined, traceable, and auditable for the complete lifecycle of a specific aerospace program. The Sr. Configuration Control Manufacturing Engineer will support operational and development Programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing superior engineering and problem-solving skills. The configuration engineer will keep an overview of all documents within a customer account. They will deliver robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to both materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly.
Job Responsibilities
Configuration Management functions:
- Provide local project technical oversight for implementation, execution and adherence to product configuration management processes through:
- Preparing configuration documentations and maintaining the data quality, integrity and security of Configuration Management (CM) database.
- Ownership of enhancements to existing CM processes through deployment of Lean initiatives and leading global collaboration with other CM teams.
- Audit the CM database and analyze configuration issues. Implement appropriate resolutions to audit findings and configuration issues
General functions:
- Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
- Responsible for the development of technical solutions to complex problems within GKN Aerospace, our customers and suppliers.
- Deliver technical support of manufacturing process development and integration for production.
- Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.
- Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
- Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Engineering or other related field equivalent experience.
- 6 (six) years experience in the manufacturing engineering-configuration field, with experience with NPI (New Product Introduction), a start-up facility, and/or a work transfer in a manufacturing environment, preferably in Manufacturing Engineering in aerospace.
- Expect travel up to 10% travel in this role, depending upon location and business needs.
- U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Configuration Management certification preferred.
- Six Sigma Training or Lean Manufacturing experience a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling and planning principles and tools.
- Aerostructures (metallics and/or composites) experience preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced experience utilizing tools such as MRP systems, CATIA/ENOVIA, MS Office Suite ((Word, Excel, Visio (or equivalent) PowerPoint and Project.
- Demonstrates personal leadership skills; high performance behaviors, self-initiative, excellent work ethic, exercises good judgment, influencing, negotiation and collaboration.
Compensation Data
Compensation Salary: $99,716.00 - $124,645.00
