What you’ll do 

Job Summary

The Senior Program Manager works closely with Design Engineering, Product Development Engineering, Quality Assurance, Commercial, Business Development, Technology and Operations heading up an Integration Product Team (IPT) to lead and manage an existing production program through a significant growth phase.

 

They oversee Bids and Proposals in conjunction with the Commercial and Business Development teams and coordinate development of the cost budget, schedule and technical compliance to meet the requirements of the customer whether internal or external, and they are responsible for the completion of the statement of work for the program. This may include R&D, detailed design, development testing, qualification testing, certification, first article approvals, initial deliveries and production ramp up to full rate production (with possible multi-site accountability).

They are also responsible for tracking, reporting and managing cost, schedule, PLP and scope within the program and coordinating resource requirements with the multiple departments in the IPT as well as being responsible for Customer management and interaction, including coordination of design and specification changes to ensure achievable Design for Manufacture.

Job Responsibilities

- Oversee the Joint Strike Fighter program in conjunction with the Commercial and Business Development teams and coordinate development of the cost budget, schedule and technical compliance to meet the requirements of the customer whether internal or external. 
- Responsible for the completion of the statement of work for the program. This may include R&D, detailed design, development testing, qualification testing, certification, first article approvals and initial deliveries.
- Responsible for tracking, reporting and managing cost, schedule and scope within the program and coordinating resource requirements with the multiple departments in the IPDT. This will be performed in accordance with the GKN Product Development Process.
- Lead the project interface to the customer; facilitating the appropriate internal functions to interface with appropriate counterparts at the customer. Fielding majority of customer communication including technical, schedule and commercial issues or requirements.
- Coordination and development of cost, schedule and compliance for bids and proposals in conjunction with the IPDT.
- Engaging internal resources to ensure completion of the program on schedule. This will include gaining commitments from functional leaders for the needed resource allocations in a matrix environment.
- Effectively communicate the program requirements and goals to each person within the IPDT and set & enforce consistent expectations, highlighting and supporting the removal of roadblocks within the given parameters of the organization.
- Monitoring project performance, documenting and working with the team to solve problems that arise, ensuring that the project remains on schedule and delivers a high-quality product to the customer on-time, and within budget.
- Monitor and track any project changes, ensuring that customer-generated costs are captured, documented and communicated for appropriate actions by the applicable functions.
- Report on project progress to customer, involved internal participants, and senior management.
- Prepared to perform duties outside of direct job description in order to meet program commitments.

 

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline required. 
- 8+ years of project and/or program management experience in a manufacturing environment. 
- Must be a US Citizen. 

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Aerospace Engineering highly preferred.
- 3+ years of project and/or program management experience in commercial aerospace environment highly preferred.
- Project and/or program management experience in a matric environment highly preferred.
- Program experience with Lockheed Martin preferred.
- PMP certification preferred.
- Knowledge of Program Management, Risk Management, and Continuous Improvement. 
- Adept with including MS Office Suite, MS Project (or equivalent) 
- Energetic and enthusiastic communicator who can sell concepts to people at all levels within & external to the organization, including engineers.
- Able to see big picture, yet also able to drill down and manage details.
- Flexible and adaptable to change.
- Good problem solver and self-starter who is well organized and can self-manage.
- Able to multi-task and manage numerous projects easily.
- Thrives on excellent interaction with people.
