Job Summary

To work in tandem with the site Program Director to drive new business opportunities taking accountability for the commercial viability and response of each opportunity. Creating a vision and growth strategy for the globally integrated aftermarket (AM) programs. The Sales Manager is accountable and responsible to win high quality, competitive (transactional) business opportunities. The individual must create proposals which are on time, meet  customer expectations/requirements, and conform to GKN Aerospace governance. In addition, the role is accountable for growing organically the existing business cases within the incumbent Customer base.
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop proactive aftermarket and MRO capture strategies in the pursuit of new opportunities. Encompasses pricing, business modelling, SWOT analysis and taking responsibility over an extended capture phase to position the business to win. 
  • Build and maintain effective customer and industry network.  Maintain and develop customer program, supply chain / purchasing, engineering, technology and strategy contacts in the field of AM and MRO.
  • Collaborate with the Business Line Strategy team to gather and analyze intelligence regarding customers’, markets, products, services as well as relevant future trends and drivers.  
  • Manage proposals at one or more sites/locations ranging from transactional spare sales for  out of production parts to Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) quotations for integrated systems provided.
  • Lead  risk identification  and management activities, through contract negotiation, change management, and ensuring appropriate pricing and protection is in place. 
  • Work with the resident Contracts Manager to ensure  the appropriate policies and procedures for successful Contracting  are adhered to.
  • Manage the interface between GKN and its customers to resolve day to day sales and build a strong customer relationship.
  • Mentor other members of the Aftermarket team to increase the knowledge and skill base.
  • Create a Great Place to Work and champions the deployment of the GKN Aerospace 5 culture principles in the AM team
  • Ensure that  Bids and Proposals are prepared in accordance with the GKN Aerospace Bid Process.
  • Lead and support sales exhibitions and events with the extended AM team
  • Support global AM strategies to grow the existing portfolio
  • Flexible working conditions (remote vs onsite)

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma of GED equivalent.
  • 7 years of experience in sales, commercial finance, engineering or program management disciplines.
  • 3 years of experience in the Aftermarket Spares and Aftermarket Parts Repair within Aerospace.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in business, law, engineering, or other related field.
  • Budget forecasting and reporting.
  • Extensive network across the Aerospace industry. 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation, ownership and communication skills.
  • Ability to anticipate future trends based on market intelligence.
