Job Summary

The Program Manager is responsible for leading a large cross functional IPT in the management of high value/high technology products encompassing full program life cycle management. The Program Manager will be accountable for program performance including financial management, contract execution, technical implementation and Voice of the Customer ensuring proper methods are followed to track program cost, schedule, and contract compliance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Design Engineering, Product Development Engineering, Quality Assurance, Commercial, Business Development, Technology and Operations heading up an Integration Product Team (IPT) to lead and manage:
    • Development programs from capture to release into production
    • Sustaining production programs
  • Oversee Bids and Proposals in conjunction with the Commercial and Business Development teams and coordinate development of the cost budget, schedule and technical compliance to meet the requirements of the customer whether internal or external.
  • Responsible for the completion of the statement of work for the program. This may include R&D, detailed design, development testing, qualification testing, certification, first article approvals, initial deliveries and production ramp up to full rate production (with possible multi-site accountability).
  • Responsible for tracking, reporting and managing cost, schedule, Program Profit (including margin improvement plans) and scope within the program and coordinating resource requirements with the multiple departments in the IPT. This will be performed in accordance with the GKN Lifecycle Gate Process.
  • Responsible for Customer management and interaction, including coordination of design and specification changes to ensure achievable Design for Manufacture, messaging performance challenges and recovery plans for delivery risks, and to solicit customer support for actions needed to move product (quality, engineering, contracts), and program reviews.
  • Lead the program interface to the customer – facilitate the appropriate internal functions to interface with appropriate counterparts at the customer. Field majority of customer communication including technical, schedule and commercial issues or requirements.
  • Coordination and development of cost, schedule and compliance for bids and proposals in conjunction with the IPT – work with the GKN Parent and within the SSA to grow program presence with the customer.
  • Engage internal resources to ensure completion of the program on schedule; managed Tier schedules to ensure both sufficient level of detail for on-time execution, as well as rolled up summaries for organizational alignment. Gain commitments from functional leaders for the needed resource allocations in a matrix environment.
  • Communicate the program requirements and goals to each person within the IPT, set and maintain consistent expectations, highlight and support the removal of roadblocks within the given parameters of the organization.
  • Monitor and manage program performance, document and work with the team to solve problems that arise, ensuring that the program remains on schedule and delivers a high-quality product to the customer on-time, and within budget.
  • Monitor, track and manage any program changes through Change Control Board. Ensure that customer-generated costs are captured, documented and communicated for appropriate actions.
  • Report on program progress to customer, involved internal participants, GKN Parent stakeholders and senior management.
  • Prepared to perform duties outside of direct job description in order to meet program commitments.
  • Ability to lead and manage direct reports including performance reviews and development objectives.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors in a Technical degree; Will consider 8 years of professional experience in manufacturing or aerospace, with 5 years of program management, in lieu of degree.  
  • 5 years of program management experience.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
  • 3 years of experience working on Sikorsky program 
  • Rate Ramp Up Program experience
  • Operations leadership and Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement experience 
  • Experience working inside an SSA organization

The salary range for this position is: 

$94,233 - $117,791
