Job Summary

Responsible for an assigned range of activities which ensure the operational effectiveness of the business focusing on execution and daily task delivery in one or more of the following key areas:  Adhering to company policies and procedures, working special projects as assigned, creating and maintaining documentation and maintaining the flow of communication internally and externally.  Interacts effectively with internal customers and appropriate system partners to conduct necessary research to resolve issues.  Actively seeks and evaluates opportunities for process improvement.  

Job Responsibilities

  • Administering IBM mid-range infrastructure along with external storage arrays, virtual and physical tape libraries and all associated operating systems and software.
  • Oversee Technology Refreshes (Hardware, Operating System, Patching and Firmware).
  • Deployment of Application upgrades/ fixes for responsible infrastructure.
  • Capacity management reporting.
  • Provisioning new environments.
  • Backup and Restore responsibilities.
  • Security for responsible infrastructure.
  • On time delivery of ticket / task handling to enable delivery of KPIs.
  • Proactively monitors and works incoming tasks and incidents logged into one of the work flow tools or incident-management database system.
  • Identifies customer concerns and resolves or escalates customer issues expediently and accurately within documented time frames.
  • Perform Month-End processing and reporting duties.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or related fields; will consider 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 5 years of System Administration experience with IBM Power Systems environments running IBM iOS.
  • 3 years of experience with journaling, HMC, Disaster Recovery and Security.
  • 5 years of experience with Operating System upgrades (example IBM 7.1 or 7.2 to 7.3)
  • 5 years of AS400 Query experience.
  • U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Security Clearance.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • ERP business system support
  • RPG, RPGLE, and CL programming experience
  • Experience with overseeing system hardware upgrades (example POWER8 to POWER9).
  • IQ Query experience
