Job Summary


The Facility engineer will be a technical resource to the Facilities and Industrial Engineering groups, providing expertise and assistance largely in the areas of mechanical engineering, electrical or controls engineering, maintenance process development, and project management. 

Job Responsibilities

  • To support the facilities, the position oversees equipment-related aspects of the manufacturing plant.  The applicant will
  • Coordinate projects related to installing and upgrading equipment, working with and directing contractors and internal Maintenance personnel for upgrades and repairs.
  • Provide cost estimates for facility projects and manage projects to meet budget and schedule requirements. 
  • Perform engineering analyses within his or her area of expertise and oversee contractors in other areas; related to capacity or expansion of electrical, process piping, compressed air, chilled water, or other plant systems.
  • Resolve technical equipment issues related to production.  Work with production to upgrade equipment to peak operational performance.  Work with maintenance to repair equipment during breakdowns and upgrades.
  • Maintain Preventive Maintenance and Autonomous Maintenance programs.  Track compliance and effectiveness of these programs. 


Required Qualifications:


  • BS degree in engineering or manufacturing. 
  • 5+ years’ experience supporting a manufacturing environment, to include support of mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements. 


Additional Desired Skills:


  • Active DoD Secret clearance is preferred.
  • Automation, PLC support experience, HVAC system support and specification, and knowledge of preventive maintenance and operator-level or autonomous maintenance.
  • Knowledge of AutoCad, Unigraphics or other CAD programs will be very beneficial. 
  • Motivated, self-starter who is capable of managing multiple tasks while keeping projects on time and under budget.  Ability to work within corporate processes yet accomplish tasks with a sense of urgency. 
  • Computer skills such as MS Excel, Project and Word are required. 
  • Ability to estimate labor and material cost for projects as well as time lines.   
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T callouts.
  • Project management experience is recommended. 
  • Training and experience in Continuous Improvement (CI) and/or Lean is desired, especially Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). 
  • Experience managing suppliers and specifying and installing new equipment will be helpful. 
  • Experience with “Industry 4.0” or data collection and management from equipment, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Business Management Systems (BMS), and/or Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is highly desired.
