Job Summary
GKN Aerospace's Defense Business Line is seeking a detail oriented Legal Assistant to provide administrative support to the Legal Department. This role is responsible for maintaining legal records, organizing documents, supporting department administrative activities, and assisting with day to day office functions.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information. This position is well suited for an individual with administrative support experience who is interested in working within a corporate legal environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare, format, proofread, and distribute legal and business documents.
- Maintain and organize electronic and physical files, records, and department documentation.
- Assist with document routing, tracking, filing, and record retention activities.
- Enter, update, and maintain information within department databases and tracking systems.
- Scan, copy, upload, and archive documents in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist with the preparation and processing of routine forms, agreements, and correspondence.
- Conduct basic database and document searches as requested.
- Respond to routine requests for records, documents, and information.
- Support office administrative functions including file management, record keeping, and document control.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information.
- Assist with special projects and other administrative duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years of administrative, clerical, office support, or legal support experience.
- Office administration experience required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional demeanor and ability to handle confidential information.
- Must qualify as a U.S. Person in accordance with applicable government and defense industry requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a legal office, law firm, or corporate legal department.
- Legal secretary, legal assistant, records management, or document control experience.
- Civil litigation experience preferred.
- Associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or coursework in Legal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience maintaining databases and electronic records.
- Detail oriented and highly organized.
- Strong administrative and record keeping skills.
- Dependable and self motivated.
- Ability to follow established processes and procedures.
- Customer service oriented with a collaborative approach.
- Willingness to learn and grow within a corporate environment.
Compensation Data
Pay Rate: $25.00 - 30.00/hr
