Job Summary


The VP Manufacturing Engineering leads the ME function in the Business Line and has complete responsibility for managing the whole product lifecycle from an ME perspective. They are accountable for developing, delivering, sustaining and continually improving manufacturing engineering solutions for Programs & Operations. This scope extends from process technology insertion, to Bid & Proposal, New Product Introduction and Serial Production support. The role will focus on strengthening industrial capability by leading deployment of global standards across the operating sites and Program IPTs. 

Job Responsibilities


•    Accountable for technical leadership of the ME function within Operations supporting the Business Line. Complete, end-end ownership of all manufacturing engineering responsibilities across the product lifecycle.
•    Accountable for developing and deploying global ME standardisation across operating sites and IPT team.
•    Accountable for delivering New Product Introduction Programs to a Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) standard, on-time and to budget to guarantee Program business case is met.
•    Accountable for delivering annual quality improvement targets, enabling year on year conversion cost reduction. 
•    Accountable for compliance to process across sites within the region including leading and driving industrialization governance standardisation and compliance across all NPI Programs in accordance with the Lifecycle Gate Process. Ensures that all aspects of new business acquisitions/proposal development are compliant with the commercial bid governance process with particular focus on summarizing/quantifying Risk to the business from a Product Quality perspective.
•    Accountable for developing and deploying the Zero Defects Manufacturing (ZDM) mind-set and culture into the ME organisation through implementation of standard ZDM tool suite and APQP process.
•    Responsible for pulling technology into operating sites to solve operational problems and capitalize on opportunities. 
•    Responsible for acting as the senior technical voice to the Customer / 3rd parties on escalated technical & quality issues as required.
•    Responsible for collaborating with other members of the Global ME leadership team on sharing and adoption of best practices through the establishment of Centres of Competency.
•    Links closely with other VP Manufacturing Engineering to ensure resources are shared and deployed to NPI & Serial Production Programs in the most appropriate and efficient manner to support the overall business.


Required Qualifications:


•    Bachelor Degree in Engineering
•    8 years of leadership level experience with business processes, cost responsibility, and complex engineering technical responsibility within the aerospace industry.
•    8 years of experience in Operations and of Operational Engineering leadership
•    Experience of Continuous improvement and LEAN methodologies


Preferred Qualifications:


•    GKN experience
•    Aerospace Engines experience
•    Project / Program Management
•    Knowledge of ME IT Tools & Systems 
•    Familiarity with AS9145 APQP process or equivalent
•    Experience working internationally
•    Advanced Business degree
•    Broad engineering background across multiple product sectors and customers.
•    Ability to establish collaborative working relationships across different departments and geographies
•    Experience in product risk assessments and control
•    Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000
•    Awareness and understanding of regulatory requirements
•    Fluent in English language, both written and spoken
