Job Summary


GKN Aerospace is opening a new facility in the El Cajon area.  The Sr. Industrial Facilities Engineer would be leading the layout & launch of this facility supporting both Manufacturing and Maintenance teams. Support will include but is not limited to manufacturing equipment and building maintenance. The Facilities Engineer will also support manufacturing process development with various engineering groups. Provide expertise and assistance largely in the areas of mechanical engineering, electrical or controls engineering, maintenance process development, and project management. 

Job Responsibilities


•    To support the facilities, the position oversees buildings and equipment-related aspects of the manufacturing plant.
•    The applicant will coordinate projects related to installing and upgrading equipment, working with and directing contractors and internal Maintenance personnel for upgrades and repairs.
•    Provide cost estimates for facility projects and manage projects to meet budget and schedule requirements.
•    Perform engineering analyses within his or her area of expertise and oversee contractors in other areas; related to capacity or expansion of electrical, process piping, compressed air, chilled water, or other plant systems.
•    Calculate machine capacity to ensure production needs can be met 
•    Resolve technical equipment issues related to production. Work with production to upgrade equipment to peak operational performance. Work with maintenance to repair equipment during breakdowns and upgrades.
•    Maintain Preventive Maintenance and Autonomous Maintenance programs. Track compliance and effectiveness of these programs.
•    Automation, PLC support experience, HVAC system support and specification, and knowledge of preventive maintenance and operator-level or autonomous maintenance.
•    Will read and interpret blueprints and GD&T callouts or equipment maintenance.
•    Managing suppliers, specifying, and installing new equipment will be helpful.
•    Create & Maintain CAD Model layouts of building, machinery & facilities 
•    Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.
•    Participate in industrialization projects, leading both internal and external (vendor) resources.
•    Manage industrialization projects, leading both internal and external (vendor) resources.
•    Responsible for industrial engineering support of manufacturing development and integration for production.
•    Implementation of industrial layout solutions, from original concept through to production.
•    Design these processes implementing lean tools and methods in accordance with the GKN standard lean tool suite    
•    Support EH&S in obtaining necessary County Permits 

Job Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

•    Associates or Two year technical degree in maintenance, engineering, manufacturing, or related technical fields, or 6 years of professional experience in a facilities maintenance in lieu of a degree.
•    5 years experience supporting industrial and/or manufacturing machinery, to include support of mechanical and electrical equipment.
•    Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR regulations and/or program requirement


Preferred Qualifications:

•    Knowledge of AutoCad, Unigraphics or other CAD programs will be very beneficial.
•    Motivated, self-starter who is capable of managing multiple tasks while keeping projects on time and under budget. Ability to work within corporate processes yet accomplish tasks with a sense of urgency.
•    Has lead the design and build of a new manufacturing facility, large scale remodel or significant product transfer
•    Experience with automating processes or dealing with automated processes & robots
•    Training and experience in Continuous Improvement (CI) and/or Lean is desired, especially Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
•    Experience managing suppliers, specifying, installing new equipment, and remodeling buildings. 
•    Experience with “Industry 4.0” or data collection and management from equipment, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Business Management Systems (BMS), and/or Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is highly desired.
•    Ability to estimate labor and material cost for projects as well as time lines.
•    Project management experience is recommended.
•    Computer skills such as MS Excel, Project and Word are required.
