Job Summary


The Sr. Industrial Engineer - Capital Investments ensures that the GKN Engines Business Line utilizes best practices when procuring capital equipment.  The role will work with Engines sites to create and implement a global end-to-end process for capital acquisition.  Accountable to ensure expenditure requests adhere to the process, are financially sound, and enable us to meet strategic objectives.

Job Responsibilities


1.    Develop a comprehensive equipment acquisition process, covering the entire lifecycle (identify, acquire, commission, sustain, replace/retire).  
a.    Survey GKN sites and industry for best practices; then document, implement, and continuously improve the process.  
b.    Develop and release appropriate tools, forms, etc. 
c.    Working with IT, create a collaboration workspace that provides visibility of project status, risk management, and enables best practice sharing.  
d.    Develop strong relationships with key site stakeholders and assist Engines sites to embrace the process and incorporate in their ways of working.  This will include training and hands-on assistance.
2.    Lead annual capital expense budgeting and ensure that individual requests to spend capital funding adhere to the guidelines, budget, and follow the process.  Provides updates on capital expenditure at the business line and site levels, at least monthly, with analysis and recommendations.
3.    Working with other team members, define overall global standards and technical requirements for the selection of industrialization systems and equipment.
4.    May be required to lead or actively help in large procurement projects, either as a means of training sites to the standard or as a resource to ensure project success.
5.    Ability to travel to the sites (domestic and international) as necessary - up to 50% annually.

Job Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

•    Bachelors in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.  Will consider 10 years relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
•    5 years of manufacturing Industrial Engineering experience 
•    2 years of experience creating business cases for manufacturing capability investments and managing industrial equipment acquisition and installation (responsibility for cost, schedule, and technical aspects)
•    Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.  


Preferred Qualifications:


•    GKN experience
•    Aerospace manufacturing experience
•    Ability to establish collaborative working relationships across different departments and geographies
•    Experience of Continuous improvement and LEAN methodologies.  Proven ability to document and implement new processes or process improvements.
•    Fluent in English language, both written and spoken 
•    Experience conducting Make / Buy analysis in the complete supply chain
•    Manufacturing requirements definition and management
•    Experience of working on complex engineering projects in global organizations
•    Proven complex troubleshooting and RCCA experience
