Job Summary

The Environmental Technician supports non-hazardous waste management and recycling activities and responds to non-hazardous and hazardous spill clean-ups. The environmental technician will also be directly involved with hands-on cleaning and maintenance activities. This role will report into the Health, Safety, and Environmental department.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operates forklifts for transferring non-hazardous recyclable materials for offsite processing.
  • Utilizes equipment to clean wet dust collectors, thermal spray booths, and other operational machinery and work areas.
  • May occasionally use scissor lift or aerial lift to clean ducting and horizontal surfaces.
  • May occasionally transfer hazardous materials on site.
  • Responds to non-hazardous and hazardous waste spills.
  • Maintains facility grounds by removing trash and debris that could impact stormwater.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Supports recycling and waste minimization efforts for the site.
  • Conducts inspections of emergency equipment

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment with environmental responsibilities.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to pass training upon hire.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder due to program security clearance requirements and/or SSA requirements.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to read operational, technical, and/or safety related instructions.
  • Familiarity with hazardous materials and waste.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs unassisted and be able to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Experience using heavy and light equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, lifting equipment, pressure washer and other cleaning tools.
  • Good communication and people skills.

 

Compensation Range

 

The compensation range for this position is between $25.00 - $30.00.
