Job Summary


As a member of the Engines NPI, Bids and Technology Insertion team, you are accountable for delivering Manufacturing Engineering solutions to the Programs and Operations organizations up to life cycle gate 7. This will include creating a Zero Defect culture through the application of the Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to ensure industry leading quality performance, guaranteeing on time delivery. The work is conducted in close co-operation with the ME community within Operations at the site.

Job Responsibilities


•    The functional leader of all ME and Industrialization (ME&I) skills and resources that belong to and support the regional business line programs. This leader develops skills that ensures the IPTs are fully enabled from an ME and Industrialization point of view to fulfil their accountabilities.
•    Ensure that IPTs with an NPI project have the needed ME support to fulfil the manufacturing process and industrialisation requirements up to LG7 that meets the business and customer expectations.
•    Be the key point of escalation and support for the deployed NPI staff
•    Ensure that the IPT’s are fully supported when needed up to LG7 from an ME perspective.
•    Ensure, as part of the Life Cycle Gate Process, to assess that the requirements have been fully understood and setting up a robust manufacturing definition through LG7.
•    Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring that the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards are fulfilled.
•    Building and leading a high performance ME organisation. Functional owner of all talent within responsible area.  This includes managing talent selection, training, development, engagement, ongoing performance and succession planning and skills development that ensures the IPTs are fully enabled from an ME and Industrialisation point of view to fulfil their accountabilities.
•    Developing the Zero Defects Manufacturing (ZDM) mind-set and culture into Manufacturing Engineering organisation through implementation of standard ZDM tool suite and APQP process.
•    Ensure resource capacity planning process is robust and controlled and that resources are shared in the most appropriate and efficient manner to support the overall business.
•    Champions and sponsors technology insertion into the businesses that will give tangible benefits.
•    Support current and future NPI’s through Industrial Reviews based on existing APMS Policies.
•    Summarizing / quantifying Risk to the business from a Product Quality perspective.
•    Developing close relationships with Program teams to deliver manufacturing engineering solutions in line with customer requirements and expectations.
•    Delivery of a manufacturing system, including execution of NPI projects, that meets all stakeholder requirements including technical compliance, producability, adherence to ME processes and standards (including Industrial reviews), compliance to business case (including quality; delivery and cost) and H&S.
•    Responsible for NPI performance KPIs and to highlight concerns / issues, key responsibilities and accountabilities include deploying processes into the IPT teams through the CME’s to fulfil all ME requirements and deliverables.
•    Ensure robustness, producibility, cost efficiency and quality by performing all ME related reviews (internal & external) completed to schedule. Ensures all inputs / outputs are managed to the defined process including capturing of / actioning Risk and Lessons Learned and secure that milestones are being achieved pre LG7.
•    Contributes to a successful transition of a programme from one lifecycle gate to the next.
•    Support robust bid proposals pre LG3 and creation of the bid response requirements up to LG7 including all Non-Recurring Costs (NRC) and Recurring Costs (RC).
•    Ensure adherence to all applicable Quality processes and procedures

Job Qualifications



Required Qualifications:



•    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
•    5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering or at least 3 years of experience with GKN Engines Business.
•    2 years of technical leadership experience (can include Project Management, Lead Engineer, etc.)
•    Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.



Preferred Qualifications:



•    Experience of managing New Product / Process introduction (industrialisation) & existing production process improvements
•    Strong leadership, influencing and communication skills.  An approachable personal style with the ability to communicate at all levels across the organization and build trust and strong internal and external relationships in a global organisation
•    Ability to be a leader in change management, demonstrate personal credibility and strong aptitude to proactively identify problems and propose effective solutions
•    Working knowledge of LEAN processes and practices
•    Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000 with a strong emphasis on AS-9145 Zero Defects Manufacturing or equivalent
•    Fluent in English language, both written and spoken
•    Effective team player and partner, and demonstration of an immediate sense of urgency, as well as flexibility.
•    Interface with the Customers / 3rd Parties on escalated issues when requested by respective IPTs and CMEs within the businesses lines
•    Working knowledge Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
•    Advanced Business Degree
