Job Summary


The Chemical Lab Technician is responsible for the analysis, control and operations of chemical processes.

Job Responsibilities


1)    Collects solution samples and performs chemical analysis of chemical milling,
chemical process tanks, and wastewater samples utilizing volumetric analysis, AAS, and ICP techniques making chemical additions to the tanks.

2)    Changes tanks as required and performs tank maintenance and control.

3)   Maintains documentation and logs as required.

4)   Conducts wastewater analysis.

5)   Receives and stores chemicals and maintains chemical inventory.

6)   Mentors/provides guidance assistance and training to junior Technicians and Waste         
      Treatment Operators.

7)   Maintains a clean work environment (including assigned storage and cleaning       
      duties) in full compliance with company standards, customer and government  

8)  Assists in the development and maintenance of a business culture, which supports 
      the Company's overall business objectives and goals, by providing leadership in 
      issues that involve “cost, quality, process, schedule and people”.

 9)  Ensures the company's commitment to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the 
       environment through the establishment and support of Company policy and 
       adherence to various government regulations.

10)  Fully complies with the "GKN Aerospace, Inc. Policy Statement on Contracting with 
       the United States Government" in all areas of responsibility involving direct and 
       indirect contracting with the United States Government.  Ensure subordinate staff is
       aware of the policy and their individual responsibility and accountability for 
       complying with it.

11)  Performs other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Qualifications


Required Experience & Qualifications:


•    Associates degree in Chemistry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•    3 years of experience in a lab or other chemical environment with a focus on chemical safety and some experience working with hazardous materials.
•    Current Hazwoper Certification or ability to obtain.
•    Forklift Certification or ability to obtain (must have valid driver’s license)
•    Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements. 

Preferred Experience:


•    The ability to work as a team player as well as independently is required. 
•    Microsoft Office proficiency helpful.
•    Must be willing to work in a repetitive production environment with concern for meeting cost, quality and schedule requirements. 
•    Basic Math skills
•    Good vision with correction
•    Ability to stand for long periods of time
•    Lift up to 50 pounds
•    Withstand loud noise of a machine shop environment
•    Must be able to wear air purification respirator (APR) and full chemical protective suit.
