Job Summary

The Accounting Manager / Controller will be responsible for high-level financial accounting, cash management, oversee internal controls and supervise a small staff at El Cajon, CA manufacturing site.   This position regularly interacts with site leadership and parent company executives on a variety of financial and operational matters.  The candidate will play a critical role to drive continuous improvement (Lean) across all back office processes. Looking for a candidate well versed in all aspects of accounting; including general ledger, fixed assets, labor reporting, compliance with IFRS and Government Accounting rules, payroll and value added taxes and interface with internal and external auditors and Government Accounting auditing groups including DCMA disclosure statement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure adequacy of internal controls over financial reporting and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and GKN policy & procedures. 
  • Provide accounting policy interpretation and guidance to the accounting and operating teams. Includes the preparation of accounting position or white papers.
  • Lead the month end close process (including variance analysis)
  • Direct participant in quarterly forecast and annual budgeting processes.
  • Optimize cash flow process (“Cash is King”).
  • Coach and develop team members.
  • Foster an atmosphere where people are engaged and empowered.
  • Support audit engagements (internal and external audits, DCAA and DCMA audits, and internal balance sheet reviews.  
  • Work closely across a majority of functional groups to provide recommendations and/or reports to aid in the management of the business. 
  • Conduct periodic Balance Sheet reviews and risk assessments.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 6+ years of financial reporting and analysis experience required.
  • 3+ years of leadership and/or management experience required.
  • Able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.
