The Opportunity

An opportunity is available for a Senior Analysis Engineer to support a number of projects at either of our East Cowes, Isle of Wight or Filton (Bristol) sites. We are looking for a capable and flexible engineer to be able to independently assess, check or approve various types of stress analysis to support our multiple production lines. You will be required to perform a variety of stress analyses, including creating and processing concession stress justifications for in-production non-conformances, provide production support to develop repair solutions, analysing and implementing design modifications to improve manufacturability and quality to existing production processes. Knowledge and capability to perform a variety of stress analysis is required, including hand calculations, finite element analysis and validation of technical solutions in compliance with applicable customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements.

How You'll Contribute

In this role, you will:

•    Develop, implement, check/approve technical solutions and compliance stress documentation for workpackges to ensure they are compliant with all relevant customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements, within agreed program, schedule, and manufacturing constraints.
•    Be capable of holding an approval stress signatory on one or more GKN projects. Candidate ideally holds an approval signatory currently.
•    Process and verify documentation such as concessions and non-conformances, and provide technical support by implementing solutions to address non-conforming products, designs, and compliance documentation.
•    Perform all activities at a level of minimal supervision and guide other engineers within the workpackage as required.
•    Identify, analyse and resolve technical problems and apply/integrate solutions.
•    Develop, execute, and verify methods plans, toolsets and approaches that are appropriate and compliant to achieve the design and programme objectives.
•    Identify and assess technical risk and propose mitigations relevant to the workpackage within assigned programmes/projects.
•    Develop and check/approve designs compliant to cost and manufacturing requirements using appropriate techniques for design such as manufacture and assembly (DFMA) and design to cost.
•    Create and check/approve design definitions of a workpackage, including integration, interfaces, dimensions, materials, parts, manufacturing process requirements, assemblies, and tolerances which are compliant to all design requirements and objectives.
•    Mentor and develop of engineers within assigned programmes as needed.
•    Support and participate in technical and customer reviews, including formal gate reviews, including the creation and preparation of technical data and presentations of a workpackage.

What You'll Bring

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

•    Relevant technical qualifications (Bachelor, Master or equivalent) or a relevant level of experience to perform the engineering tasks 
•    Relevant stress engineering experience.
•    Able and suitable to hold 'check and approval' status in accordance with the relevant criteria, if so required by the allocation/project.
•    Able to perform finite element analysis using a toolset (we use Nastran/Patran but knowledge at the outset is not essential).
•    Able to perform both static and fatigue and damage tolerance analysis using recognised methods.
