Job Summary

 

Based in our thriving East Cowes manufacturing centre of excellence, and reporting into the Procurement Operations Manager, the the Procurement Project Manager role is critical to ensuring the successful delivery of supplier-related activities across new product introductions (NPI), transfers of work, and engineering modifications. The position directly supports the execution of projects by managing supplier performance to meet delivery, cost, and quality targets through to First Article Inspection (FAI).

 

This role acts as the primary interface between Procurement and programme teams, ensuring alignment across internal stakeholders and external suppliers, managing all procurement transfer-of-work projects (minor and major), supporting supplier selection and RFQ processes, controlling project performance, risk, and escalation management, ensuring compliance with change control, export regulations, and ITAR, and driving supplier performance and relationship management.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Typical responsibilities will include (but not be limited to)

 

  • Responsible for all Procurement transfers of work projects (Minor & Major transfers)
  • Responsible for the Procurement Projects interface into site Programmes (Business Lines). Managing both internal and external customers
  • Support for the Programme Supplier Selection RFQ’s with the use of e-sourcing tools.
  • Responsible for the performance of Transfer Projects, managing off-track items and reporting progress through the BR4 Process
  • Responsible for site procurement (Projects) change control, export control and ITAR
  • Actively executes Risk, Issue and Opportunity Management to control and mitigate the risk exposure and take advantage of opportunities on all transfer of work projects.
  • Build relationships with suppliers to ensure overall customer satisfaction is achieved.
  • Support Business Line as a procurement point of contact (for Projects)
  • Support/Manage emerging escalations in connection to active projects (Escalate as per GKN escalation process)
  • Establishing and controlling robust document management in the IPT and towards/ from the customer.
  • Adheres to all procurement standards and policies in accordance with the GKN Business Management System (BMS) and contribute to process development.
  • Responsible for creation/data input to ToW Gate 0, 1 & 2 packs
  • As part of the role and when the job dictates, be required to travel to, and work at, other company premises on the UK mainland and abroad.

 

Job Qualifications

 

Suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate:

 

  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent in Business Administration or other relevant discipline, or equivalent procurement or supply chain experience
  • Have either gained, or is working towards MCIPS
  • Have either gained, or is working towards Project Management Qualification (APM, PMI, MBA etc are desirable although not essential)
  • Ability to work in a matrix managed business
  • Capable of interfacing professionally with customers and suppliers
  • Leadership skills
  • Commercial Acumen
  • Experience of change Management
