Sitting across our three business lines; Civil, Defence and Engines at our East Cowes manufacturing plants you’ll do just that. Established in 1901, one of our older production sites with a workforce of cira 800 employees. Our East Cowes plants, Isle of Wight are where we design, manufacture, test and repair high performance structures and systems. We have two facilities on the Island; Falcon Yard, Ferry Road and Osborne Site, Saunders Way. Both locations employ the company’s distinct competencies in major assemblies and composite structures for the global aerospace market. Our customer base includes Airbus, Astronics, BAE Systems, Boeing, Bombardier Aerospace, Cessna, Cobham, Honeywell, Leonardo, Lockheed Martin, Rolls Royce and Triumph

Job Summary

As an Operational Buyer, reporting into the Supply Chain Manager you will be accountable for the order processing of in-contract scheduling along with the management of supplier delivery performance in line with MPS and business requirements. Additionally you will deliver against supplier and business performance objectives, focused on procured parts delivery across a scope of up to £10m spend. You will join the procurement team and take responsibility for:

 

  • Supplier scheduling in line with MPS and the accuracy of supplier and procured parts data within the MRP system to ensure that demand signals minimise shortages and eliminate unwanted inventory
  • Daily maintenance of supplier performance including committed dates for delivery; ensuring accurate information is held within the supplier schedules, identification of supply risk, constraints and bottleneck; escalating as required. Ongoing performance management.
  • Supporting the Procurement Operations Manager or Site Procurement Manager to deliver the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process in regards to external supply reviews
  • Maintaining external capacity reviews in line with MPS
  • Guaranteeing multi-function team reviews are taking place with key suppliers
  • Providing daily communication with internal customers and receiving areas
  • Adherence to standard procurement processes and daily regimen/management tasks
  • Ownership of the supplier scorecard process to ensure that supplier performance is communicated to all levels of the supplier and is regularly reviewed as part of multifunction team reviews
  • Supporting SQE on supplier non-conformance and processing of supplier returns and claims
  • Ensuring prompt supplier payment by clearing any invoice queries
  • Ensuring adherence to the Health and Safety policies and procedure.

How You'll Contribute:

 

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

 

  • Degree Qualified or at least 2+ years experience in either Supply Chain Management /Procurement roles
  • Computer literate; proficient in Microsoft Office; Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Regular travel to suppliers for the site
  • Occasional global travel
  • Degree Qualified in Business Administration desirable, although not essential
  • APICS / MCIPS qualification desirable, although not essential
  • MRP Proficiency desirable, although not essential
