Job Summary
An amazing career opportunity has arisen here in our thriving East Cowes facilities for a suitably qualified and experienced HSE professional to join the team in a Deputy Leadership position. They will be responsible for supporting the management and development of Health, Safety and Environment for the site by acting as a subject matter expert and, where and when required, deputising for the Site HSE Lead, with a view to potentially succeeding the current Site HSE Lead when they retire.
We are looking for someone with demonstrated team leadership capabilities, who is truly passionate and enthusiastic about HSE - dynamic, adaptable, and engaging, with the ability to work with various stakeholders including operatives, managers, union safety reps, engineers, support functions, external consultants, etc.

You will be a key player on our journey towards zero harm to people and planet, identifying risks and opportunities using a combination of leading indicators data and physical in-work observations and reviews to align the functions focus and priorities
You will be working with a team of engaged and driven advisors, an environmental site lead, and our HSE apprentice, to utilise and develop subject matter expertise such as Lifting, risk assessment, COSHH, DSEAR, etc. to ensure the health and safety of over 1000 staff and environmental compliance across two sites. Cowes has a large variety of projects and customers, and we are working on exciting future projects and collaborations, so there are plenty of opportunities to get involved at key stages where you can work to get HSE integrated at an early stage to drive strong HSE performance.

Job Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the HSE Lead
- Implementing GKN Aerospace HSE policies and procedures throughout the site
- Completing and maintaining required HSE documentation including risk assessments
- Reporting and managing all incidents on HSE data collection system
- Providing reports as required on site HSE performance
- Ensuring accurate and complete tracking of internal HSE metrics, plans, record keeping and corrective actions
- Ensuring employees are trained and competent in relation to HSE
- Ensuri statutory compliance of the site
- Setting targets for site HSE performance
- Supporting HSEE site certifications as required
- Supporting the HSE Audit function
- Leading by example carrying out leadership safety tours
- Subject matter expertise in some areas
Job Qualifications
Suitable candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Solid previous HSE experience gained within a similar, "high-risk", industrial environment, with evidence of driving for continuous improvement and HSE excellence
- Previous experience as an HSE Lead Auditor
- IOSH Dimploma (or working towards)
- A genuine passion for HSE, with dynamism, and proven people leadership capabilities
