Job Summary

 

Based in our East Cowes facilities, here on the beautiful Isle of Wight with option of hybrid working, and reporting into the Commercial Manager, the Commercial Officer will join Integrated Programme Team (IPT) providing commercial expertise and support to specific customers within our portfolio of top-tier Aerospace clients.

 

They will work to ensure the management and resolution of commercial issues on a day-to-day basis, such as commercial change management, and the support of local-level bids and proposals. They will be responsible for informing the IPT of contractual obligations and boundaries, and will be the first point of escalation for customer purchase order or contractual issues, both internally and from the customer

 

Job Responsibilities

 

 

  • Review and negotiate contracts, confidentiality agreements and other legal agreements, identifying areas of risk.
  • To interface and highlight to the IPT and customers where contractual obligations and limits to obligations are.
  • Supports new bidding activity when required, including the compilation of a business model and Commercial proposal.
  • To manage/maintain the company order book to reflect the customers purchase order requirements.
  • To ensure that commercial/contractual correspondence files are maintained.
  • To maintain key performance metrics and contribute to internal reporting requirements. Supports change negotiations with Customers.
  • Ensure that overdue debt is kept to a minimum and customers pay in accordance with agreed payment terms.
  • Support Project / Program Review structure, reports, data etc.
  • Review Customer MRP and conclude on demand changes, check against contractual conditions and update demand as part of MPS.
  • Manage opportunities to improve the business case.
  • Adheres to all program management and Commercial standards and policies in accordance with the GKN Aerospace Program Management framework and contribute to process development.

 

Job Qualifications

 

Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate the following:

 

 

  • Previous experience working in a similar role within the Aerospace Manufacturing industry
  • Ability to analyse financial information;
  • Broad contract law knowledge, with the ability to advise on contractual obligations, implications and risk;
  • Understanding of FAR and DFARs would be desirable;
  • Experience of drafting and negotiating contractual terms and conditions;
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to develop business relationships;
  • Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
