Sitting across our three business lines; Civil, Defence and Engines at our East Cowes manufacturing plants you’ll do just that. Established in 1901, one of our older production sites with a workforce of circa 800 employees. Our East Cowes plants, Isle of Wight are where we design, manufacture, test and repair high performance structures and systems. We have two facilities on the Island; Falcon Yard, Ferry Road and Osborne Site, Saunders Way. Both locations employ the company’s distinct competencies in major assemblies and composite structures for the global aerospace market. Our customer base includes Airbus, Astronics, BAE Systems, Boeing, Bombardier Aerospace, Cessna, Cobham, Honeywell, Leonardo, Lockheed Martin, Rolls Royce and Triumph.

Job Summary


Based in our East Cowes site on the Isle of Wight, we are looking for a Skilled 5 Axis Operator to join us. Reporting into one of our Group Leaders, this position involves machining to stringent tolerances in order to meet the required specifications, as used in the tightly governed aerospace industry. The 5 Axis Operator will be responsible for the fixture and tool setting, including programme loading and operating controllers for various 5 Axis machining centres. Your main priority is to ensure that all aspects of the machining process conform to the required quality and health and safety standards.

In addition you will take responsibility for:

  • Preparing surfaces and applying stain, paint or other materials for decorative or protective purposes to wood, metal or other surfaces of internal or external structures or equipment.
  • Determining surface peculiarities, use and environment of surfaces, and types of paint or stain required for different applications
  • Compliance with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health & Safety Procedures relevant to all work activities
  • Maintain good standards of housekeeping in your designated work area

How You'll Contribute

  • Be Craft /Trade qualified, and time served machinists who have experience of all aspects of CNC machining.
  • Demonstrate the ability to consistently deliver a high standard of workmanship, ensuring customer requirements are met.
  • Work as part of a close team, possessing strong organizational and communication skills; demonstrate flexibility and availability to work all shift patterns and overtime as required.



  • Ideally hold an overhead crane and forklift licences; although not essential as training can be provided.
