Job Summary

The Commercial Manager provides commercial leadership and direction for Northrop Grumman programs, interfacing with the customer on all relevant contractual matters. They will work in tandem with the Program Director to drive new business opportunities taking accountability for the commercial viability of each opportunity. They will also play a key role in negotiation strategy and execution of the strategy, take the lead on claims management, and act as an escalation point for commercial resolution of customer issues. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Take the lead role in identifying and managing risk, through contract negotiation, change management, ensuring appropriate pricing and protection is in place. 
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of a commercial strategy.
  • Ensure that the appropriate policies and procedures for successful Commercial practice are adhered to.
  • Manages the interface between GKN and its customers to resolve day to day commercial issues and build a strong customer relationship. 
  • Takes responsibility and accountability for the commercial performance of the program.
  • Mentor to other members of the Commercial team to increase the knowledge and skill base.
  • Ensure effective commercial change management control, pricing, negotiation and contracts are in place.
  • Ensure customer overdue debt is minimized and that customers pay in accordance with their contractual obligations and where possible maximize cash flow through contracting arrangements with the customer.
  • Ensures that all Bids and Proposals are prepared in accordance with the GKN Aerospace Bid Process.
  • Take responsibility and lead in review and negotiation of Terms and Conditions

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in business administration, law or engineering or related field, or equivalent years of professional experience with manufacturing contracts.
  • 5 years demonstrated ability with strategic planning and strategy execution within the aerospace industry
  • 5 years ability to create, manage and execute a project plan within Programs and/or Operations environment
  • 3 years proven experience building relationships with customers and other external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FAR/DFAR. 
  • U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements. 
  • Ability to travel both internationally and domestically. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced in EVM and Operating Budgets.
  • Knowledge of Forecasting Models for production and sustainment environments.
  • Strong negotiation skills related to complex airframe structural components.
  • Subject Matter Expert in Life Cycle/Value Chain, Technology Insertion and Strategic Sourcing Strategy. 
  • Experience with international (non U.S.) suppliers.
  • Ability to build and lead teams.
  • Ability to achieve by influencing others.
  • Proven strategies for new business captures and architectures for life of program.
  • Financial acumen & understanding of the business models within Aerospace. 
  • Either completed or registered for acknowledged Program Management or Contract Management Certification.
  • Strong communication skills.
