Job Summary

Position requires sound comprehensive knowledge of aerospace tool design and manufacture / maintenance, engineering drawing, CAD/graphics, and reading of drawings.  Responsible for implementation and sustaining of tools and tooling systems with minimal supervision. Has good knowledge of aerospace industry and related standards and codes. 
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Tool Design (new and revisions to existing)
  • Preparation of tool usage instructions
  • Tool tryout and handover to Operations
  • Tool Inspection and maintenance
  • Plans, organizes and coordinates own work.
  • Collects, reads, interprets and uses related reference documents and drawings prepared by other disciplines, vendors or outside sources.
  • Ensures compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, safety, constructability, reliable operation, fabrication and satisfactory completion.
  • Reviews and checks calculations, design models, drawings and design documents for quality accuracy, neatness, functionality and satisfactory completion.
  • Assembles bid, approval and fabrication issue drawing packages with supervision.
  • Provide drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by designers.
  • Research design options.
  • Review shop drawings.
  • Assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards.
     

Job Qualifications

  • Associate degree in an engineering discipline, will consider 4 years of professional design experience for manufacturing tooling in lieu of degree
  • 2 years experience in manufacturing
  • 1 years professional expeience working with CAD software such as NX, CATIA, and/or Solid Works
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements
  • U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Security Clearance

 

Preferred Qualification

  • Knowledge / experience with tool making practices specific to mold manufacture and repair
  • Knowledge of composites / resin transfer molding processes
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
