Job Summary

Master Planners are responsible for developing finished goods master production plans to satisfy customer demand from the Order Management System (OMS) while minimizing on hand finished goods inventory levels in support of site Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO) objectives.  This is accomplished by using ERP Master Production Scheduling (MPS) and Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) capabilities under direction of the site Supply Chain & Procurement Director and the Sales, Inventory, & Operations Planning (SIOP) Team.

Job Responsibilities

The primary accountability and deliverable of Master Planners is to convert and communicate demand requirements for products and services into detailed plans and schedules for finished goods inventory on hand inventory replenishments in support of customer order fulfillment and site Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO) objectives. 

This includes:
• Complying with site policies, procedures, work instructions, risk management, and regulatory requirements;
• Working with Sales, Inventory, & Operations Planning (SIOP) team to understand inventory objectives and strategies as well as master scheduling givens and assumptions;
• Creation and maintenance of time-phased net weekly finished goods replenishment requirements based on reviews of finished good demand / forecasts, rough available capacity at bottlenecks, on hand finished goods inventory, and finished goods master planning data;
• Maintenance and control of Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) to help ensure material & capacity availability,
• Maintenance, tracking, control, and reporting of Master Production Schedules (MPS) to manage future finished goods inventories and replenishments;
• Working with Engineering to ensure that approved Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) are incorporated into MPS finished goods planning;
• Creating and maintaining finished goods planning item master data such as lead times, safety stock levels, replenishment lot sizes, minimum order quantities, and process yield rates;
• Working with Production Planning and Procurement to understand critical component material availability / shortfalls and MPS scheduling options;
• Working with warehousing to understand finished goods inventory storage capacities and constraints
• Issuance and maintenance of MPS work orders / finished good replenishment completion requirements;
• Providing available to promise (ATP) dates and quantities to Program Management as requested;
• Reviewing component availability and inventory-related performance metrics;
• Ensuring that finished goods availability and inventory-related performance metrics are achieved;
• Working with Compliance to understand and comply with regulatory requirements ;
• Other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

• U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements (if required for site)
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or operations management discipline and 5+ years of Master Scheduling/Planner experience OR high school diploma with 10+ years of Master Scheduling/Planner

Additional Qualifications:

• Training and development of team members;
• SAP experience strongly preferred
• Professional procurement-related certification (example:  American Purchasing Society Certified Purchasing Professional).

• Effective planning, organizing, communication, and conflict management skills;
• Business analytics, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
