Job Summary

With direct supervision, our lean interns will participate in driving continuous improvement. They will play a central role in leading the site through the Lean Excellence model. They will lead, coach and influence their site’s teams and leaders, ensuring rigor and fidelity to the Lean Deployment roadmap.

Job Responsibilities

  • As an intern, you’ll provide support to our established teams, and our teams will focus on developing your skills by providing mentorship in everyday tasks, independent projects, and providing training in continuous improvement
  • Role modelling a culture that is aligned to the GKN Aerospace “Great Place to Work” value drivers and Culture Principles.
  • Exemplifying a safety-first mindset and ensuring that the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards are applied across GKNA and that all locations are a model of a world-class healthy and safe working environment.
  • Collect data about current processes, flows, and improvement opportunities
  • Data entry and data analysis
  • Organizing training
  • Office administrative tasks in preparation for training and projects
  • Working with CI team to help identify and support projects
  • Support process and efficiency improvement projects
  • Support regular daily tasks
  • Other duties as identified by the Site Lean Deployment Leader

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Completed Junior year of courses
  • U.S. Person per ITAR/EAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong inter-personal communication skills and ability to work as a team player
  • Team player with excellent planning and organization skills.
  • Effective communication and writing skills.  Attention to detail is critical.
  • Basic math, time management, and data analysis skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills required
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Some Lean manufacturing experience preferred
