Job Summary

To lead the HR function for the GKN Aerospace Structures and Services Corporation (Cromwell, CT).  Develops and deploys global and local policies and programs for employment, employee engagement, employee development, compensation, benefits, employee communications, and employee services. 


  • Ensures that the global GKN policies and processes are implemented and complied with locally for:
    • Compensation and Benefits
    • Hiring and Induction
    • Performance and Development
    • Organisation Planning
    • International assignments
    • Discipline
    • Employee Assistance / Hotline
    • GKN Values and Code
  • Designs and deploys local policies and processes, where no global policy or process exists, to support business and local legal requirements.
  • Analyses actual headcount against budget and partners with the management team to ensure effective resource and staffing plans.
  • Provides advice, guidance and challenge to the leadership team relative to policies, procedures, programs, and legal requirements of various human resources-related issues.
  • Directs and supervises employee counseling and disciplinary procedures to assure fairness, consistency, and legal compliance.
  • Leads the development of the employee engagement plan, partners with the leadership team to deliver.
  • Leads the development of the site Learning and Development Plan, supports leaders to deliver to the plan and ensures maintenance of training records by managers.
  • Leads the development and deployment of the Leadership Development Plan.  
  • Establishes and implements short and long term objectives for the Human Resources function and leads the creation and deployment of a functional continuous improvement plan.
  • Maintains and improves the local employee handbook.
  • Responsible for the creation and delivery of the AAP.


  • Bachelor Degree in human resources, business, or related discipline, will also accept 10+ experience in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7 years of HR experience performing HR business partner work in functional areas of human resources (i.e. staffing, compensation, benefits, EEO, labor law, etc.)
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred
  • 3+ years HR experience in a manufacturing or warehousing environment.
  • Experience managing a team of HR professionals
  • Master’s Degree desirable
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to maintain integrity and objectivity, despite internal and external pressures, and make difficult, sometimes unpopular, decisions that are in the best interest of the employees and the company. 
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Computer literate in Microsoft office.
