The Opportunity

​Based at or Filton site, where we design and manufacture large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a range of aircraft, our new Supplier Quality Engineer will work with suppliers – mainly onsite here, to ensure products are received to the right quality standard and on time. With a background in mechanical engineering, you will engineer and communicate the product and system requirements to suppliers and will participate in and orchestrate the plan for qualification (FAI and PPAP). Comfortable in liaising with suppliers, this person will review and take actions to solve problems and will collaborate with other engineers within the team to ensure we can continue to achieve the highest quality manufacturing standards. 

How You'll Contribute

To help us make a difference, you’ll:
•    Carry out Supplier First Article inspections - Communicating to SQE at Designing Organisation 
•    Have frequent contact with suppliers to monitor and identify improvements within Quality
•    Handle supplier non-conformance including cause and corrective action, in order to be up-to date with the supplier performance
•    Handle escapes, including root cause investigation, containment and corrective actions, Participate in 8D investigations
•    Issue authorizations of “Request for Pre-Release” 
•    Participate in supplier work transfer evaluation and monitoring
•    Support concurrent engineering between GKN and supplier (design for manufacturing)
•    Support in supplier feedback and communicate with distributors to monitor their performance

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

Essential

  • Experience from within aerospace manufacturing engineering/production with an mechanical specialism
  • Experience in product qualification activities or inspection/control 
  • Knowledgeable in aerospace quality requirements (AS9100, NADCAP, etc.)                                                        
  • Skilled in root cause analysis, 8D and continuous improvement                                                      
  • Knowledge of aerospace products, processes and technologies                                
  • Experience and skilled with Microsoft office, and ERP systems

Behaviours:

  •  Well organized and structured with strong skills to work both independently, and in a team                                  
  • Target-oriented and outgoing with good communication skills
