Job Summary
The Six Sigma Black Belt (BB) is a “High Calibre” data driven Problem Solver specialising in solving complex issues. The BB will lead major breakthrough initiatives to successful completion and with that captures significant growth opportunities in the organisation. Additionally the BB plays a key role in developing problem solving capability, supporting productivity breakthrough leaders and by training & coaching Six Sigma Green Belts (GB). BB is a change agent and role model for leading change and Lean transformation.
Job Responsibilities
Role Modelling and Culture Alignment:
- Champion a culture aligned with GKN Aerospace’s “Great Place to Work” value drivers and Culture Principles.
- Exemplify a safety-first mindset, ensuring adherence to GKN Aerospace Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and standards across all locations, fostering a world-class healthy and safe working environment.
Leadership and Coaching:
- Coach and mentor breakthrough leaders, fostering their development and ensuring they are equipped to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Deputise for the Head of Continuous Improvement as needed, providing leadership and maintaining momentum in ongoing projects.
Problem Solving and Lean Leadership:
- Drive disciplined and rigorous execution of complex, data-driven problem-solving initiatives, including Black Belt projects and problem-solving events.
- Display exemplary Lean Leadership behaviour, setting a standard for others to follow.
Training and Certification:
- Train and coach Green Belts to achieve certification, ensuring they are proficient in Lean methodologies and tools.
Performance Improvement:
- Deliver significant improvements in People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash, and Cost (PSQDCC) targets, meeting customer and stakeholder commitments through effective problem-solving.
- Develop expertise within the assigned area, ensuring self-sufficiency in problem-solving and certification of all staff at the appropriate level for their roles.
Job Qualifications
- A good educational background, although a degree is not mandatory
- Minimum of 10 years’ relevant business experience
- An understanding of Lean Thinking and Lean Leadership
- The demonstrated ability to influence at the Site Management, Group Leader and Team Leader level, as well as the enabling functions
- Ability to lead, coach and mentor team members
- Excellent Project Management skills, able to navigate through complex project stakeholder situations
- Effective communicator, building effective teams
- Highly enthusiastic for the change to a Lean Thinking organisation
