Job Summary

The Health & Safety Advisor will support the effective management, continuous improvement, and strategic development of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) performance across the manufacturing site. Working closely with the HSE Lead, the role ensures compliance with statutory requirements, promotes a proactive safety culture, and drives operational excellence in line with GKN Aerospace standards.

 

Please note that this is initially a 6 month Fixed Term Contract.

What You'll Be Doing

HSE Leadership and Support
Support the HSE Lead in delivery
Act as a visible and proactive Health and Safety presence across the manufacturing environment.
Champion a positive safety culture, encouraging safe behaviours and continuous improvement.

 

Policy Implementation and Compliance

Implement GKN Aerospace HSE policies, procedures, and standards.
Ensure full statutory compliance with UK Health and Safety legislation, aerospace industry requirements, and environmental regulations.
Support the maintenance and development of site HSE certifications.

 

Risk Management and Documentation

Complete, review, and maintain HSE documentation.
Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and hazard identification activities.
Support the HSE audit function.

 

Incident Management and Reporting

Report, investigate, and manage all incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
Ensure root cause analysis is completed and corrective actions are implemented and verified.
Provide accurate and timely reports on site HSE performance, trends, and key metrics.

 

Training and Competence

Ensure employees, contractors, and visitors receive appropriate HSE training.
Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and targeted training sessions as required.
Maintain training records and support the development of competency frameworks.

 

Performance Monitoring and Improvement

Track internal HSE metrics, action plans, and recordkeeping.
Set and support the achievement of site HSE performance targets.
Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

 

Operational Support

Provide HSE guidance during new equipment installations, process changes, and engineering projects.
Support environmental management activities.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams.

What You'll Be Doing

What You'll Bring

  • Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment (aerospace preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation and best practice.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum) or equivalent; working toward Diploma desirable.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and drive practical improvements.
  • Confident in conducting investigations, audits, and risk assessments.
