The Opportunity

Our Western Approach manufacturing facility is an International Centre Of Excellence in composite wing structure design and production. With circa. 350 staff, we manufacture composite wing spars and Fixed Trailing Edge assemblies for some of the world's most popular aircraft. Our new HR Business Partner will work with our dedicated team to support site operational goals and strategies, and to identify opportunities to increase organisational effectiveness and productivity. Reporting to the the Site HR Manager and supported by an HR Apprentice, this is a broad, generalist role which will see you get involved in areas such as recruitment, payroll queries, employment law, employee relations, benefits administration, training/people development, performance management, on-boarding, and policy implementation. Really, the whole gamut! We are a friendly team, and - while there will always be challenges - we are supportive in meeting them and are aligned in our drive to deliver the best possible outcomes for our team and therefore for the business. How You'll Contribute

You will:

  • work closely with the site HR Manager in supporting our site team in relation to all HR-related matters such as payroll queries, employment law, employee relations, benefits administration, training/people development, performance management, on-boarding, and policy implementation
  • partner with site teams and the central recruitment function to support recruitment through things such as recruitment events and employee on-boarding
  • provide support, guidance and direction in matters associated to HR operations, best practice, employment law and HR strategy
  • partner with the functional leadership team to ensure a balanced, proactive and challenged approach is taken to achieve business area HR KPI’s
  • provide coaching and support to managers to increase individual HR expertise, including local and global policy, procedures, legislation and systems
  • identify opportunities for HR efficiencies and effectiveness in order for the HR function to continually improve 
  • work in a holistic manner supporting the business in its approach to the health and wellbeing of its employees
  • act as a champion and change agent ensuring practice is relevant, up to date and consistent.
  • proactively support the development and application of HR policies and procedures
  • be pivotal in supporting the continuous application of engagement strategies across the business area in order to year on year improve engagement survey results

What You'll Bring

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
 

Essential:

  • Broad HR generalist experience
  • Experience of delivering people results in a fast paced environment
  • Experience of both operational HR and partnering with stakeholders to help and advise on people-related matters
  • An understanding of working with unions
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current employment legislation

Desirable:

  • Qualified to at least L3 in HRM
  • Experience advising on payroll queries 
  • Experience in an HR role within a manufacturing environment
  • Good awareness of current health and safety legislation
  • Experience of working in a unionised environment

Behaviours:

  • Flexible, possess strong communication skills (oral and written) and have the ability to deal with and influence at all levels of the organisation
  • Able to work in a results-orientated way, ability to manage own workload and deliver conflicting deadlines in a demanding and pressured environment
  • Process-focussed
