At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft.
The successful applicant will be responsible for industrialising procurement projects within the supply chain.
This role is based at our Filton site, with the successful applicant working with a team of 3 engineers in a role that will require up to 25% travel to supplier businesses.
How You'll Contribute
In this role, you will:
- Lead supplier industrialisation activities
- Assure and monitor Product Risk mitigation and Quality planning/control at supplier (APQP, PPAP)
- Review Supplier First Article- Communicate to SQE at Designing Organisation (a SQE in a designing organisation also Approve the FAI)
- Perform/Follow up supplier assessments, industrial reviews and evaluations when qualified
- Support concurrent engineering between GKN and supplier (design for manufacturing)
- Support cost engineering/cost reduction
- Support with supplier tendering activity
What You'll Bring
To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
Essential:
- Sufficient relevant experience in a heavily regulated environment
- Experience in New Product Introduction or supplier industrialisation activities
- Well organized and structured with strong skills to work both independently, and in a team
- Target-oriented and outgoing with good communication skills
- Experience and skilled with Microsoft office, and ERP systems (e.g SAP)
- Project management experience
Desirable:
- Engineering degree or recognised apprenticeship in a relevant discipline
- Project management (Prince2 / PMP)
- Knowledge of APQP toolset and previous practical application
- Knowledge of aerospace products, processes and technologies
