The Opportunity

Our Filton site in Bristol is our largest UK site with 1500 colleagues and here we design and manufacture large, complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft. Due to retirement, a rare opportunity has opened up to join us as a Senior Planning Manager. In this key role, you will provide expert support to site in relation to balancing supply and demand in line with site operational and financial plans. You will be one of three Senior Planning Managers, leading a team of 13 Master Schedulers and Shop-floor Schedulers (4 direct reports), and will look after a defined part of the site's business from a planning and scheduling perspective, adhering to related standards and using tools and metrics appropriately. Key duties include the execution of monthly Operations Supply Planning (IBP) activities, leading weekly MPS activities and the daily execution of planning through Shop Floor Scheduling. 

This role is part of the Supply Chain Function and whilst your responsibilities are predominantly focused on Planning activities, there may be the requirement based on your skill set and experience to support the wider function when necessary due to business needs. 

How You'll Contribute

Key duties include:   

  • Being accountable for the management of your Planning team (leadership, target setting, performance review, talent management, organizational planning, recruiting/on-boarding, training and development)
  • Collecting and compiling all inputs supporting the Operations Capability Review; this includes understanding demonstrated performance, management of assumptions, integration of time phased continuous improvement plan, preventative maintenance plan, master data, and forward looking capacity 
  • Ensuring that MPS is feasible and meets Programmes’ requirements within site and supplier / subcontractor capacity while at same time satisfying site Inventory targets
  • Ensuring Shop Floor Scheduling is aligned to latest customer demand, consistent with MPS and using the most adequate techniques to support on time delivery at the optimal level of inventory and cost.
  • Ensuring relevant KPIs are monitored and PDCA approach applied

What You'll Bring

Essential

  •      Experience working in a Manufacturing environment, preferably one which adheres to a Lean Operating Model
  •      Experience at a senior level for Forecasting & Demand Planning, Operations Supply Planning (IBP) / MPS / MRP, Daily Scheduling & Execution, Master Data Management
  •      Previous exposure to Strategic Planning, Inventory Management, End-to-End visibility and data exchange, Strategy & CI Planning, Performance Monitoring, Network & Talent Management, Industry & Product acumen, Project Management, Business Process Excellence, Operations Excellence

 Desirable

  •      Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management/Logistics
  •      APICS qualifications such as Basics of Supply Chain Management (BSCM) or CPIM 
  •      Internal Flow & Warehousing, Budget Mgt. and Finance acumen, Lean Mind-set & Business Excellence, People Excellence, End-to-End Supply Chain Mgt.
