Job Summary

 

An opportunity is available for a permanent position for a Senior Analysis Engineer to support several exciting projects at our Filton office. We are looking for a capable, dynamic and flexible engineer to be able to independently assess, check, or approve stress analysis of aircraft structures at various stages of the design ranging from conceptual design to certification analysis. You will be required to perform a variety of tasks, including hand calculations, finite element analysis and validation of technical solutions in compliance with applicable customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements. Qualification to work on UK Defence projects is essential.

How You'll Contribute

 

The Senior Engineer - Analysis will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Perform stress analysis using classical methods for both composite and metallic structures
  • Develop, implement, check/approve technical solutions and compliance documentation for workpackges to ensure they are compliant with all relevant customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements.
  • Be capable of holding an approval stress signatory on one or more Filton based projects. Candidate ideally holds an approval signatory.
  • Process and verify documentation such as concessions and non-conformances, and provide technical support by implementing solutions to address non-conforming products, designs, and compliance documentation.
  • Identify, analyse and resolve technical problems and apply/integrate solutions.
  • Develop, execute, and verify methods plans, toolsets and approaches that are appropriate and compliant to achieve the design and programme objectives.
  • Identify and assess technical risk and propose relevant mitigations 
  • Generate and check test specifications/plans and/or alternate means of compliance 
  • Develop and check/approve designs compliant to cost and manufacturing requirements using appropriate techniques for design such as manufacture and assembly (DFMA) and design to cost.
  • Create and check/approve design definitions of a workpackage, including integration, interfaces, dimensions, materials, parts, manufacturing process requirements, assemblies, and tolerances which are compliant to all design requirements and objectives.
  • Generate or review, and sign as appropriate 
  • according to the project signature authorisations.

What You'll Bring

 

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

 

  • Holds relevant technical qualifications (Bachelor, Master or equivalent) or a relevant level of experience to perform the engineering tasks in a workpackage.
  • 8+ years (indicative) of relevant stress experience of both composite and metallic structures. Preferably in the Aerospace Industry or Aerostructure Design.
  • Able and suitable to hold check and approval status in accordance with the relevant criteria, if so required by the allocation/project.
  • Able to perform finite element analysis using a GKN recognised toolset such as Nastran/Patran and Simcenter.
  • Able to perform both static and fatigue and damage tolerance analysis using recognised methods.
  • Qualify to work on UK Defence projects.
