The Opportunity

Based at our Western Approach site at Severn Beach, our new Material Handling & Warehousing Inspector will join our Logistics Team who locate, prepare and move stock, carry out the management of warranty claims and perform salvage activities, while maintaining inventory status and performing physical inventory procedures. As our new Inspector, you will help us ensure all materials are in the right place at the right time. You will be responsible for the verification of incoming product characteristics, traceability data, batch documentation and other quality records, utilizing a range of inspection techniques and methods including - but not limited to - visual, mechanicals, automated, contact and non-contact. Salary is from £25,000. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Use appropriate equipment (forklift, tow train) to move material
  • Use appropriate equipment (overhead crane, master mover) to move spars through the production process
  • Record movements of material in the transactional records systems (e.g. receipt, booking and inspection within SAP)
  • Be responsible for performing inspection processes as described by receiving work instructions and/or other directions defined by the site Quality System
  • Prepare Tags for Escapes found at receiving and communicate with Suppliers as necessary
  • Support Scrum process on Supplier Tags and escapes found at Operations and/or customers.
  • Be responsible for performing first article inspections in line with site operating policies, procedures and work instructions defined by the site Quality System
  • Analyze and communicate supplier quality performance and identify improvement areas.
  • Be responsible for the execution of customer and regulatory delegated inspection processes as authorized by those parties. Responsible for maintaining those delegated authorities once granted.
  • Support root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances including supplier audits where appropriate
  • Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
  • Support continuous improvement of production and inspection processes by implementing Lean initiatives.

Experience:

  • Experience within logistics, preferably within a manufacturing environment
  • Willingness to work towards:
    • Practitioner level for Internal Flow & Warehousing
    • Use of Material Handling Equipment
