The Opportunity

At our Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft. This 12 month project management role will initially manage a customer-funded titanium mitigation project which will see us transfer our existing titanium sourcing to a new source, involving forging to plate/bars. Following this, you will move onto a project to review and reduce Cost of Goods Sold (Time In Motion). You will join a 9-strong Programme Team, and there is significant likelihood of role extension.

How You'll Contribute

In this interesting and busy role, you will:

     Manage and/or support the delivery of titanium forging to plate/bar project.
o    Work with internal & external suppliers to ensure targets are maintained.
o    Be the primary interface with the customer for progress updates.
o    Work with the customer to ensure design for manufacture (DFM) dates are achieved and the design is manufacturable.
o    Ensure quality and delivery targets are met.
o    Work with internal procurement to ensure purchase orders and specifications are delivered to the supplier on-time.
o    Work with the commercial and finance teams to ensure compliance to contract/authority to proceed (ATP) are aligned with purchase order values.
o    Constant monitoring of the titanium stock levels throughout the supply chain.
     Manage the scope of work regarding COGS, this includes:
o    Understanding baseline hours for manufacture (demonstrated times).
o    Understanding the industry standard for manufacturing hours of a project (future).
o    With the CME to identify technology projects that close the gap between demonstrated and industry standard manufacturing times.
o    Identify areas of opportunity for procured items (raw materials and bought-out finished) parts.
     Adhere to all applicable quality processes such as all regulatory rules and guidelines, customer mandates and Export control and ITAR requirements.
     Support the development of any Technology road and activity maps for the Filton Airbus single aisle programme ensuring the business case is clearly defined before execution for the specific intended application. 

What You'll Bring

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

  •      HNC/ONC (or equivalent) level qualification and/or a recognised trade qualification with manufacturing experience in an aerospace production environment.
  •      Knowledge of and ability to use and implement LEAN tools and techniques.
  •      Demonstrated knowledge of industrial engineering.
  •      Strong communication and IT skills including SAP and MS Office.
  •      Ability to function as a team player.
  •      Ability to work under own initiative within a defined programme and targets.
  •      Ability to use and knowledge of APQP.
  •     Desirable: Airbus drawing/specification understanding and interpretation.
  •      Desirable: Use of SAP Engineering.
