The Opportunity

Based out of our Filton site, where we design and manufacture large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a range of aircraft, our new Programme Manager will be based within our Dassault programme of work. Reporting to the Programme Director and supported by a small programme team, you will partner internally and externally to ensure the continued success of the programme, in-line with requirements and scope. You will get involved with NPI activities up to and including Lifecycle Gate 7 and with on-going management activities of the programme from Lifecycle Gate 7 and beyond. 

How You'll Contribute

In this key role, you will:

  • support the execution of the programme (including changes) to comply with all the business case and contractual requirements for products.
  • be responsible for continuously monitoring the performance of the allocated programs, managing off-track items and for reporting progress through the PPS.
  • create Programme Improvement Plans including cost improvement, pricing initiatives, enable Zero Defects Manufacturing, redesign initiatives, gaining agreement with relevant stakeholders.
  • provide input to make, move, buy decisions and strategic procurement decisions.
  • acts as the voice of the customer.
  • support the Programme Director / Vice President in defining the vision, strategy, budget for the program to optimize cash flow, profitability and growth.
  • adhere to all programme management standards and policies in accordance with the GKN Aerospace Program Management framework and contribute to process development.
  • actively execute Risk, Issue and Opportunity Management to control and mitigate the risk exposure and take advantage of opportunities.
  • Support the Programme Director in the proposal process.
  • be responsible for planning and performance of Life Cycle Gate, including preceding Reviews.

What You'll Bring

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

Essential:

  •      Degree-qualified or equivalent, with industrial experience within a large-scale organisation.
  •      Experience leading large and complex technical projects, preferably within an engineering environment
  •      Excellent communication skills- both formal presentation and informal coaching approaches
  •      Able to process large bandwidth of project information, filter noise and demonstrate initiative to address key opportunities, issues and risks.
  •      Highly skilled in operation of Microsoft Excel, SharePoint and Project applications. Tactile & numerate aptitude. 
  •      Detailed understanding of project principles and terminology, qualified in PM
  •      Experience operating in an Agile PM environment
  •      Experience building resilience and agility into project & programme systems


Desirable:

  •      Has a high level of emotional intelligence 
  •      Has a high level of executive disposition/gravitas
  •      Previous experience in a similar role desirable with supporting evidence to demonstrate a match to the ‘key responsibility’ requirements including project management and people skills, computer literacy, financial and scheduling coordination
