The Opportunity

Our Western Approach is an International Centre Of Excellence in composite wing structure design and production. We manufacture composite wing spars and Fixed Trailing Edge assemblies for some of the world's most popular aircraft. Due to retirement, we are seeking a new Production Planner/Shop Floor Scheduler who will manage scheduling activities in the production area. In this role, you will manage visual systems to communicate / monitor the sequence of production orders, ensuring the availability of resources such as tooling and raw materials. You will be part of a small, highly motivated team supporting production. The role involves working on the shop floor and in the office to ensure we create and maintain the optimal production sequence.

How You'll Contribute

In this role, you will:

  • Sequence work orders in line with latest demand requirements and aligned to the Master Production Schedule for specified products and production lines understanding all the physical and manning constraints of these lines.
  • Monitor manufacturing output/performance daily against the schedule, challenging and understanding whenever performance differs from standard.
  • Monitor Stock cover daily in order to avoid Stock outs as well as overstocks by adjusting the execution sequence if possible or raising the issue with the Master Scheduler.
  • Maximize shared manufacturing resource output/utilization while ensuring full coherence with MPS product mix, volumes and required availability dates,
  • Ensure that sequenced plan:
  • Is feasible and balanced,
  • Includes all scheduled downtime (Holiday, routine maintenance, Line closures, etc.),
  • Is supportable with available packaging, tooling, fixtures, people
  • Monitor availability of raw material / components and escalate as required to Procurement / Master Scheduler.
  • Proactively communicate/escalate to the Master Scheduler / Area management potential production execution issues/constraints to trigger preventive actions against potential supply failure.
  • Weekly track, challenge and report Schedule Adherence with reasons for deviation to Production Area Management and Master Scheduler.
     

What You'll Bring

Essential:

  • Production experience
  • Good Materials Requirement Planning understanding and / or experience
  • Microsoft Office applications – competent skills within Windows, specifically Excel & Powerpoint.

Desirable: 

  • Experience in a scheduling role within a manufacturing environment including specifically Materials Requirement Planning (MRP), Daily Scheduling & Execution. 
  • Practitioner level for Forecasting & Demand Planing, Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) / MPS / MRP, Master Data Management, Inventory Management, Internal Flow & Warehousing
