Job Summary
GKN Aerospace’s Chief Technology Office is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge Hydrogen Systems for aerospace applications. As we advance the development of hydrogen systems for flight, we face a unique challenge: a limited supply chain currently exists to support this pioneering technology.
We are seeking a Procurement Programme Manager to play a pivotal role in establishing and maturing a robust supply chain that can meet the demands of aerospace production. You will be responsible for identifying, contracting, and industrialising suppliers to deliver systems and components that are ready for flight, ensuring that our supply chain evolves in step with our ambitious goals.
This role will be based within the Civil Procurement function, but will work across multiple development projects. You will provide critical procurement expertise, from supporting purchasing activities for specialized equipment and services to offering contractual guidance on strategic supply chain partnerships.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify and on-board suppliers in the UK and Netherlands for hydrogen system components.
- Address supply chain gaps and implement projects to close them.
- Collaborate with project teams to define requirements, develop statements of work, and contract suppliers.
- Manage coordination between hydrogen project teams and procurement to ensure timely resource allocation and project delivery.
- Work with quality teams to industrialize and mature suppliers for flight-ready production.
- Represent the programmes in supplier, commodity, and risk reviews, ensuring strong procurement performance.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement recovery plans as needed.
- Develop and maintain a supply chain strategy to meet project objectives in terms of product, technology, cost, and production rate.
- Provide operational procurement support for equipment and services, in collaboration with the central procurement team.
- Oversee academic supply chain relationships and position programmes for success.
What You'll Bring
To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
Essential:
- Experience in the design and negotiation of commercial agreements
- Previous experience within an international supply base
- Demonstrated experience building relations with supplier network
- Proven experience in engineering and technology domains
- Business Experience in electrical supply chain, e.g. distribution components, machine and drives or power electronics
Desirable:
- Experience in the commercial aerospace sector
- Relevant professional and academic qualifications are highly valued. For example CIPS, degrees in relevant subject matter
- Business experience in Hydrogen systems, or propulsion systems
- Proven ability to lead cross functional teams/activities including operations, engineering, programmes and finance.
