The Opportunity

Our Filton site specialises in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft. Our new Manufacturing Engineer (Quality Engineering) will facilitate the effective implementation of advanced quality planning and non-conformance reduction activities, including the management of customer concerns and returns. They will support the management team in conducting non-conformance management system (NCMS) activity. 

How You'll Contribute

You will lead the development and deployment of advanced quality planning activities, including the use of:

  • manufacturing support to the production areas with reference to quality issues
  • control plans (inspection and certification controls)
  • measurement systems evaluation
  • 8D facilitation and resolution
  • process capability studies
  • production part approval through first article inspection (FAI)


You will also co-ordinate a non-conformance management system (NCMS):

  • provide product quality performance indicators
  • establish problem definition, root-cause analysis, customer protection and corrective and preventative action
  • support investigations int customer-reported quality problems
  • where necessary, interface with the procurement, components and assembly teams on supply chain quality issues
  • guide and advise management, ensuring the appropriate use of quality tools and techniques
  • act as a guide and point of contact for customer, supplier and airline quality representatives as necessary

What You'll Bring

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

  • educated to HND level or above, or have a technical apprenticeship in an engineering environment, combined with relevant IQA qualifications
  • practical knowledge of manufacturing and quality management systems
  • ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical data
  • in-depth experience of problem solving using appropriate quality tools and techniques
  • effective communication skills to enable you to liaise with a wide range of people, internally and externally
  • flexibility and desire to work as a team player in a fast-paced customer-focussed environment
  • familiarity with SAP systems and processes
  • working knowledge of SPC and the deployment of quality tools and techniques
