Job Summary

Responsible for robust manufacturing process selection, implementation and control of products, and reporting status of the assigned products to meet stakeholder requirements within GKN business and customers.  

Job Responsibilities

  • Establishes the manufacturing process, procedures and production layouts as appropriate and required
  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures and other functions that affect product performance to reach business case hours and cost
  • Incorporates inspection and test requirements into the production plan
  • Selects tools to verify their efficiency and performs root cause investigations, initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality, and report nonconformance´s to customer
  • Develops capable manufacturing processes using SPC (statistical process control), and develop those techniques
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations and customer requirements
  • Acts as a technical expert for the assigned product, both internally, to suppliers and to customer
  • Provides engineering estimates for business cases for similar product / product families.

Job Qualifications

Must be educated to Degree level or equivalent and have at least 5 years previous experience in an
aerospace manufacturing environment.
· Act as a Key Communicator to direct reports, cascade information effectively, and provide
appropriate feedback on a regular basis
· Actively resolve issues raised using standard model of GKN leadership behaviour: setting
expectations, recognition, coaching, constructive feedback, and escalation where appropriate
· Continuously coach and develop team members to ensure that team targets are achieved:
enhancing a people - focussed environment
· Maintain an appropriate level of skills and flexibility within the functional team: identify
functional training needs
· Ensure that all direct reports have equal opportunity to contribute to improvement
· Provide Employee Involvement and team management and direction through weekly 5 Box tool
