Our Western Approach site is a Centre of Excellence for the manufacture of wing spars for some of the world's most popular aircraft. Due to internal progression, we are seeking a new Logistics Team Leader who will lead a team of 12 people in managing, operating and controlling all physical flows to, within and from the site.
The successful applicant will manage the team and process effectiveness of receiving operations, transport organising and planning, warehouse operations, management of physical inventory, internal logistics and outbound operations.
The working hours for this role are Monday - Friday 07:30am - 15:30pm
This role is initially on a 6 month fixed term contract basis, however there is opportunity for this role to be extended or made into a permanent position depending on business requirements.
How You'll Contribute
In this role, you will have responsibility for:
Logistics Specific
- Manage the workload of the area (receiving, shipping, internal movements, warehouse) and optimise the allocated resources
- Liaise between supply chain and production at shop floor level ensuring material movement is in accordance with operational requirements
- Operate and align with Supply Chain Management (SCM) global standards including Inventory Cycle Counting, Warehouse and Storage and Inbound Inventory Standard
In addition to

- Being actively involved in problem solving and the management system using a 'Go to Gemba' approach to solve problems with the ambition that 95% of issues can be solved within the zone itself
- Contributing to the Value Stream future state design, and ensuring its execution across your assigned area
- Cooperating with other Team Leaders to ensure the best performance outcomes for the entire area
- Holding the functional support staff accountable for adhering to the Global standards and enabling your zone team to meet its targets
What You'll Bring
To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
Essential:
- Experience within a supply chain, logistics or production environment
- Experience leading a small team
- Able to demonstrate competence to undertake key tasks within your work zone or those in zones within similar processes
- Excellent performance as a Team member, demonstrating rigorous adherence to standardised work, and a track record of Kaizen implementation
- Self-motivated by meeting and exceeding PSQDCC performance targets
- The demonstrated ability to work with various stakeholders
- Demonstrated potential to lead, engage, train and develop direct reports
- An effective communicator and an influential team member
Desirable:
- APICS Basics of Supply Chain Management
- Experience and expertise in Warehouse & Logistics processes to include Transport management, Internal Flows and Warehousing, Inventory Management, Customs and transport regulations
- Experience working with a Lean Operating Model / Production System Lean or Six Sigma certification by a reputable certifying body or benchmark company Aerospace supply chain experience
