Job Summary

The Legal Counsel will be based at our Bristol (GTC) or Blythe Valley (Solihull) sites supporting our Civil business line with a focus on the commercial team and primarily the Airbus account providing legal advice on a wide range of legal and compliance issues whilst reporting to the Head of Legal - Civil. The incumbent will need to be flexible for quarterly travel within the UK, the EU and North America to attend team, customer and supplier meetings and there is flexibility for working from home for up to 50% of the time dependent on the needs of the business. The Legal Counsel will provide technically competent and timely advice including drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex international contracts with both customers and suppliers, supporting the commercial team on customer engagements and the procurement team on supplier issues, contentious matters with both customers and suppliers, corporate governance (including some company secretarial matters) and regulatory issues.

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as a Legal contact point for the Airbus team
  • Support the Head of Legal and Senior Counsels on internal projects including reporting, training and risk management activities
  • Support ad hoc on M&A, Employment, Product Safety/HSE, Environmental, Real Estate, Data Protection, licences and approvals required to fulfil BL contracts, Investigations and compliance issues
  • Work frequently with other members of the Legal and Compliance team on a matrix basis
  • Be flexible showing sound judgement when dealing with organisational ambiguity
  • Own your own development adopting a growth mindse to continuously improve your legal and non-legal skills
  • Proactively seek opportunities to collaborate within and support the development of the Legal & Compliance function

How You'll Contribute

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

Essential:

  • A relevant Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent
  • A UK, US or EU qualified lawyer who is qualified to practice as a Solicitor in England & Wales
  • Significant legal PQE experience 
  • Legal training completed at a recognised top tier law firm 
  • In house legal experience
  • Experience of drafting and negotiating cross border commercial contracts that include sales and customer matters
  • Experience of managing and resolving cross border disputes 
  • Experience of internal and external stakeholder management building and owning relationships

 

Desirable:

  • In house legal experience within the manufacturing or aerospace industries
  • Experience of drafting and negotiating cross border commercial contracts that include procurement and supply chain matters
