The Opportunity

At our Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft. Our Test Department provides a Non Destructive Test (NDT) service to the Manufacturing and Design & Engineering functions of GKN and we are seeking a new NDT Engineer (Penetrant Testing) - Level 3. This is an 'on shift' position with a pattern of:

  • Week one: Monday,Tuesday,Friday,Saturday
  • Week two: Wednesday, Thursday
  • 12 hour shift (+22.5% shift premium payment)

 

How You'll Contribute

In this role, you will have responsibility for:

•    Supervising and, if necessary, training all levels of NDT resource
•    Creating, reviewing and approving NDT Procedures, Instructions & Techniques in line with internal and external requirements. 
•    Ensuring all relevant procedures, Instructions and Techniques are complied with. 
•    Performing NDT Inspections.
•    Provide reports on NDT matters as required.
•    Communication with Customers and Suppliers as required.
•    Compliance with all Health & Safety requirements.

Note, the responsibilities extend to cover both internal resource and sub-tier suppliers.

What You'll Bring

The Job Holder shall be:

•    Qualified to EN 4179 Level 3 Penetrant Testing 
•    Knowledgeable of material specifications and their associated testing criterion.
•    Capable of producing concise reports.
•    Conversant with Microsoft Office IT Process’.
•    Verbally proficient to discuss NDT and related matters with all levels of staff.
