Job Summary
The Export Control Officer plays a key role within GKN Aerospace’s global Export Control function, part of the Corporate Legal & Compliance organization. This position supports the Business Line Export Control and Sanctions Lead by providing expert guidance, oversight, and compliance assurance across facilities and sites. The role ensures adherence to export control regulations and sanctions requirements, safeguarding sensitive technologies and data while enabling compliant business operations.
How You'll Contribute
The Export Control Officer will be responsible for the following:
Compliance Implementation:
Drive the implementation of export compliance requirements at facility level, including the Export Control Framework and Technology Control Plan.
Ensure segregation and protection of controlled data, enforce badging protocols, and cascade policies and procedures throughout the facility.
Oversight of Transfers & Classification
Monitor and validate the classification of all items received, exported, or transferred from the facility.
Maintain accurate, retrievable records of classifications, authorizations, signed documents, and export activities.
Ensure employees involved in export activities receive mandatory training and maintain training records.
Licensing & Authorisation Management
Manage export licenses and authorisations, including applications, tracking expirations and decrements, communicating license provisos and restrictions.
Reporting & Governance
Provide timely and accurate reports to the Business Line Export Control and Sanctions Lead and the Facility Business Head
Continuous Improvement
Identify and implement corrective actions arising from investigations, disclosures, audits, governmental visits, and compliance reviews.
Expert Guidance & Training
Deliver specialist advice on export control and sanctions matters.
Develop and deliver training programs to enhance compliance awareness and capability.
What You'll Bring
To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications, and attributes:
Education: University degree or equivalent; additional procurement or compliance training is an advantage.
Experience: Minimum 5 years in a relevant role, ideally within the manufacturing or aerospace industry.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with aviation and export control regulations preferred.
Skills:
Strong project and stakeholder management capabilities.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and drive compliance initiatives to successful completion.
