The Opportunity

Based at our state-of-the art Research & Development Facility in Bristol - the GKN Aerospace Global Technology Centre - we are looking for a highly motivated, detail orientated Executive Assistant who thrives in a fast paced environment, and can work with a high degree of autonomy, to deliver high level administrative support to our business leaders. The role will work closely with other Executive Assistants throughout the organization to manage extensive diaries, travel, expenses and coordination of visits. You will be a highly organised, experienced planner with the demonstrated ability to respond effectively and efficiently while maintaining flexibility and composure. You should be comfortable owning tasks, including in ambiguous situations. 

We are able to offer this position on an apprenticeship basis. 

How You'll Contribute

In this interesting and varied role, you will:


  • Provide professional, proactive administrative support to the VP GTC UK and VP and Technology Programs VP; the former includes wider GTC-related administrative tasks.
  • Ensure extensive diary management including scheduling and rescheduling of appointments, communicating with, and facilitation of, attendees, with a flexible approach to changing schedules.
  • Support complex travel arrangements across for wider team members. 
  • Deliver events coordination to include securing appropriate venues, accommodation, catering, travel and facilitation of such events on the day as appropriate.   
  • Ensure interaction with internal and external partners is seamless and well-coordinated whilst developing professional relationships – excellent customer experience is key. 
  • Provide additional support to these functions and other such duties as may reasonably be required.

About You

  • You love to be customer/client facing, and build strong, professional relationships, feeling confident to approach people at all levels of seniority.  You have excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to work collaboratively with senior management to deliver our business priorities. 
  • You have the ability to demonstrate tenacity and a can do approach.       
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity, and take ownership of situations even when clear or explicit guidance is not available. 
  • You are confident to say ‘no’ to requests where required, such as when they are out of scope for your role and/or your bandwidth does to reasonably permit. 


  •      Experience as an Executive Assistant, Personal Assistant or Secretarial experience at Director or Senior leadership level
  •      Well-versed in MS applications including Office 365 suite
  •      Excellent spoken and written communication skills


  •      Degree qualified (or equivalent) or studying towards a degree in a relevant discipline (communications, events, PR or business administration).
